Chapter 4 – I Had A Heart Then But…

“I can’t believe that…”

****

“…Asshole!” I shout, banging on the door, repeatedly.

The door suddenly swings open. Liam is standing there in boxers, his gun firmly planted in his left hand, as he watches me with a bored expression.

I quickly push my way pass him only to come face to face with a dark-skinned girl, her head shaved on one side with long wavy, black hair on the other. I quickly take in her wearing his t-shirt as she leans her shoulder against the hallway wall. Choosing to disregard her completely I focus my attention on Liam instead.

“I can’t believe you did that, “I yell at him, my anger flooding through, “And why did you answer the door with a gun! You knew it was me! I know you could hear me, you—you…  asshole!”

I watch his expression go from bored to amused, but he says nothing, instead mystery girl talks, “Who’s your little friend, baby? Isn’t it a little passed her bedtime?”

Her voice annoys me, more so as she belittles me. I definitely can’t stand this girl.

I whip my head in her direction, “I have a name, you know.” I say with brashness.

“I. Don’t. Care.” She states slowly, not even looking at me, “Get rid of her Liam and come back to bed.”

She says it with such confidence that I can tell she’s surprised when he finally speaks.

“Leave.” His voice, calm. He isn’t looking at me though. His blue eyes are trained on her as she looks at him in disbelief.

I smirk, pleased that I’ve won.

“You can’t be serious.” She retorts, not moving.

I watch as he glares at her before repeating himself, this time with annoyance, “Leave.”

She huffs as she spins around and heads back towards his room.

We stand in silence, watching each other, until she comes back fully dressed, slamming her way pass me and out the door. Liam places his gun down on the table by the door before walking passed me and into his kitchen. I huff before following behind cautiously.

“You gonna say something, Princess? Or did you just storm into my apartment at two in the morning for no reason?” He speaks with an air of arrogance, while grabbing a beer from the fridge.

Finally remembering what led me to charge over here from the same bar where I met this asshole in front of me, I fume.

“You’re such a dick, you know that? Laying claim on me like I’m your property while you sleep with whomever you want,” I shout throwing my hands up in the air in frustration, “I went out with Alexis tonight. We went to that bar I met you at and none of the guys would even go near me. They took one look and pretty much ran. It wasn’t until I overheard two guys talking that I finally knew why. Care to take a guess?”
