His Hand and Mine

"Can I see your hand? " Those were the first words I heard from the boy that stood before me. He smiled as I told him yes. He looked closely at the lines across the palm of my hand. "What are you doing?" I said in confusion, and he said still looking at my hand,"I'm reading your hand." "Reading my hand? That's impossible, there isn't anything to read." He laughed at my childish thought, "I'm reading the lines on your palm, it's called 'palm reading'."

"Pfft, whatever you call it, it's weird." I pulled my hand away from his, and he looked up with a smile. "Yeah, I guess you're right. It is pretty weird."

He looked down at the ground and I suddenly felt really bad. "Oh, but hey, that's okay, it's also pretty cool." He smiled and looked up," Really?!" I laughed,"Yeah." He looked at me and said, "What's your name?"

I starred at the ground, "You don't want to know it." I mumbled. "Huh? No, I do want to know your name, why would I not?" I sighed," 'Cause it's weird!" There was a moment of silence before the boy giggled. "W-what?" I felt my face burn and flash red, "W-well it is okay!" He stopped giggling,  but his smile never faded, "I'm sure your name isn't as bad as my name." I looked up at him,"What? What's your name?" Right away he replied, "Rudolph. " I stopped in shock and then I bursted out laughing and he did as well. "I'm just kidding, my name is Ace." I calmed myself down and then was totally blown away by that name, "Ace?! Like the cards?!" He smiled and laughed at my reaction, "Yeah." I smiled in astonishment. "So..since I told you my name, you have to tell me yours." I sighed once more, "Oh well, I guess that's fair... My name is.." 'Ace' looked intensely waiting for an answer, and I giggled, "My name is..." "Come on, come on! Tell me!" he shouted out of impatience. I smiled, "My name is Echo." He looked surprised,  "Seriously? ! No joke?!" I laughed, "Yep, no joke."

He smiled and shook my hand, "Nice to meet you Echo."
