Ch. 41

You stuck to Victoria and Alexa or James as much as possible. When you saw Logan come in with Brent you saw James get angry. "You promised you wouldn't do anything." You whispered, reminding him. "Some promises have to be broken." He muttered. You held on to his hand. Logan saw you and went another direction with Brent following him. For while you were able to avoid Logan and Brent but when you went to get a drink, Logan came over. "Can I talk to you?" He asked quietly. "Why?" You asked already annoyed. "So I can explain." Logan replied. "What's there to explain? You brought Brent knowing I'd be here." You replied turning away. Logan grabbed your wrist. "Amanda, please hear me out. Yes, I knew you'd be here but I had Brent's visit planned before this party and I wasn't going to just leave him at my place. Believe me, I didn't want to bring him and risk something but I didn't have much of a choice." Logan explained. "Maybe you just shouldn't have come." You retorted. "Come on, Amanda. How would that look if a band member didn't show up to his tour party?" Logan replied exasperated. "If I were you I wouldn't talk to James. If Brent gets anywhere near me, James is going to flip-" You warned. "I know, I know." Logan interrupted. "I'm doing my best, Amanda. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place here. I can only do so much." Logan sighed. "Yeah, well good luck." You replied walking away. You got back to James in a huff. "Everything ok?" He asked. "Hopefully." You replied biting your lip. True to his word, Logan was able to keep Brent away from you for the night. Well, until the end when you and James walked past them as you were leaving. "Having fun being famous?" Brent asked sarcastically. Before you could say a word, Logan stepped in. "Back off, Brent. Don't start anything." Logan said pushing Brent away from you and James. "Wow, standing up for her? Times have really changed." Brent said snarkily. You saw James lunge for Brent but blocked him. "Come on. Let's go." You said as you grabbed James. You decided it'd be best (and safest) if you drove home. "Why are you driving?" James asked reluctantly climbing into the passenger side. "Because if you drove right now, your anger would get us into an accident or get you a ticket." You replied bluntly. James folded his arms and slouched in the chair, obviously still furious over what had just happened. The drive home was silent. When you opened the door, Ali could immediately see something was wrong. James blew up and told Ali everything, starting with your history with Brent. You stood there embarrassed, sure Ali would be extremely judgmental and be disgusted by you. "Wow, I thought my exes were bad. I'm so sorry that had to happen to you." She said giving you a hug. "Thanks." You replied shocked that Ali was so nice. James went upstairs while you paid Ali for watching Belle. "You have the cutest kid. She loves you so much. I hope that ex of yours disappears. If you ever need to talk to someone have James give you my number." Ali offered as she walked out the door. "Thanks. Have a good night." You said as you closed the door and locked it. You went upstairs and went to bed exhausted.

Ch. 42

A few days later was Belle's first day of kindergarten. You and James went to the bus stop with her to see her off. Both of you gave Belle a big hug and kiss before she got on the bus. "I'll see you after school, ok? I love you, big girl." You said kissing her forehead. "I'll be waiting for you when you come home." James said kneeling down and giving her a hug. "Have fun!" You called as Belle climbed on the bus. "My baby." You said as the bus drove off. James gave you a hug. "She's going to be ok." He smiled. "I know but I swear I've only had her for two years." You sighed as you and James went inside. You had taken the day off of work because you wanted to see Belle go to school and come home. Early in the afternoon, you went out to the mailbox and saw the typical envelope for Belle's money. You went inside and opened it to count the money. You saw two bundles of money instead of one. One of them had the normal amount and the other had half of the normal amount with a note that said "Extra for last Saturday. I'm sorry." "What does that mean?" James asked reading over your shoulder. "I have no idea. Maybe Brent felt bad about what he did. I doubt that though." You replied. When it came time for Belle's bus to drop her off, you and James went outside to wait. When the bus pulled up, Belle was the first one off. She ran over to you and James. James picked her up. "How was school?" You asked. "Easy!" She replied smiling. "Did you have a good day?" James asked. "Uh-huh." Belle nodded. "Well to celebrate your first day, Mommy and I were thinking we'd go to a restaurant tonight. You get to choose because it's your big day." James said. Belle had a snack while James made dinner reservations. A few hours later, you all left and went to the restaurant. Over the next few weeks, you all got into the new routine of Belle going to school. You or James would always be there to pick her up from the bus stop. You began to meet up with Victoria and Alexa for dinner or lunch every once in awhile and talk about all sorts of things. You three were soon the best of friends. Even the gossip magazines had stopped writing about you and your relationship with James. Everything seemed to be going perfectly fine until one afternoon.
