Beep
Beep
Beep.
I wake up, excitedly. Why the heck am I excited?
I get up swiftly, and then stop moving abruptly, listening to see if anyone's awake. I hear no footsteps, shuffling or shower water on so I run and slide down the banister.
I take out pancake mix and bacon. I crinkle my nose up at the eggs. Ew. Eggs. I shudder at the thought.
I make the pancake mix and put 8 large pancakes on the grill then turn around to get the bacon out, put it on the pan, and slide it in the oven. I repeat until there's 2 stacks of pancakes both twice the size of my head.
My brothers (Eric, Alex, Luis, and Fernando) ran downstairs all at once.
I jumped as they all say down at the table at once. I guess I was used to the silence.
"Ay mierda*! What's wrong with y'all! You scared the crap outta me!"
The youngest, Luis (4 yrs. old) lip started to tremble and he began to cry. I walked to him swiftly and perched him on my right hip.
"No baby, don't cry miijo*." I pleaded. his wails got quiet soon enough and were reduced to sniffles.
I tapped him in the nose and said " Miijo eat up and get dressed okay?"
" Okay." he replied reluctantly.
My other 3 brothers just looked at me shocked. Eric stood suddenly walked to me and gave me a crushing bear hug.
"What was that for?" I asked.
He just smiled down at me proudly. I gave him a weird look.
"Well I'm off to school guys. Fernando and Alex do you need rides?"
They scrambled out of their seats chorusing yeahs and pleases and thank yous.
"You be good okay?" Eric said.
"I will." I said simply.
"You know, you remind me of her." he stated.
"My looks, or personality?"
"Looks, your personalities are very different but you think very similarly as she did." He replied
"Did you ever catch them?" I asked coolly.
"No but we are very close." he replied in the same manner.
" I want the leader." I stated.
"Fine." he replied.
I ran to my car , rolled down the windows and locked the doors. I drove of quickly, tire screeching as i drove. I made it to Fernando and Alex's part of the building in 2 minutes. They practically jumped out of the car and walked swiftly to their friends talking loudly and obnoxiously as they did.
"See you later sis!" they chorused over there shoulders.
"Bye yall!" I replied softly. But I know they heard me. I drive in a wide circle, and I was in the front of my part of the building. I check the time on the dashboard. It bright green letters it says 7:28. I run into the building grabbing my bookbag and I run to my locker, not even looking grabbing all my books, not even looking at them. I run to my class just as she says my name during roll call.
Thank Jesus for small miracles yall! Im just laughing to myself when the teacher interrupts my thoughts.
