"Carly Jefferson."

I looked at the officer, cocking my head to the side. I grasped the edge of the seat tighter, and finally let out a sigh of defeat. " I did know her."

"Where did you know her from? The school provided us a list of students, and you aren't on it." The police officer's breath smelt like rotten fish, and her hair was a messy as a boy's dorm room. Her skin was dark, and she had piercing hazel eyes that seemed to see right through me. I glared at her, but she pounded her fists against the table.

"I knew her because we're old friends. She moved to Paris, while I stayed her in Pennsylvania." I growled, closing my mouth, and looking away. The officers typed something into her computer, then looked back at me.

I tried to avoid eye contact, but she held her glare. "And do you know any reason why Miss.Jefferson would have possibly jumped?"

My lip grew a stinging pain, as I bit down on it. My nails dug through the leather chair, causing a small rip. "Because she told me."

"But how in the world would you know? How did she contact you?" The cop asked, holding on to my every word, typing it into the computer. She took a sip of her coffee that was in a mug, and cleared her throat.

"We wrote to each other every weekend since she left." I stated, and the officer nodded, as she straightened out her shirt.

I put my hands on my knees, and pinched my legs. My lip now bleeding from the teeth marks. I pushed my blonde hair out of my face.

"Do you have them with you?" My heart skipped a beat, and I froze. I didn't know how to answer her. In the bag at my feet was a bag that had every single letter Carly had ever sent to me in it.

"I do." I said, snapping out of it, and reaching into my bag. I pulled out the zip-lock, and handed it to the lady.

She unzipped the bag, and pulled out the first letter. "Let's read them, shall we?"

That's the prologue. :)
