It didn’t surprise me when my mom came in my room one day and told me we had to move again.
Before I explain, let me tell you about myself. My name is Haley Davis and I am 17 years old with brunette hair and light brown eyes. Nothing special. I am also an only child. I am a junior in high school and I have only been in the school year for 5 months now. I am a shy, quiet person so it takes me awhile to make friends and fit in at new schools. People tend to not like me because I am very intelligent and in all the honor classes, but mostly because I am a teacher’s pet. But enough about me, let me tell you about my family.
My dad is a Lieutenant General in the US Marines and we are constantly being moved from base to base across America since his job is very important and he is needed everywhere. My mom is a nurse and volunteers in her free time.
Unfortunately, this would be the fourth time in the past year that we have had to move. And to tell you the truth, I wasn’t thrilled at all.
“Are you serious Mom? I just got used to everyone in my school,” I stated.
“I know sweetheart. I’m not excited either, but I spoke with your father and I made him promise me that we would stay in California until you finish high school,” she smiled.
My eyes widened when I realized what she just said.
“WE ARE MOVING TO CALIFORNIA!” I screamed.
She shook her head grinning, “Yes Haley! We are moving to San Diego in California!”
I jumped up from my bed and hugged her. I was smiling like crazy. I have always wanted to live in California.
*One month later*
I was shocked when we pulled up to our new home in San Diego. This house was a mansion. It was two stories, 4 bedrooms and 3 baths. It had a huge front and back yard and was right along our own private beach. We even had an infinity pool! The house came furnished so everything we needed was in the house already.
I got out of the car with my parents and looked over at them. “This is insane! And we are going to be living here the next 2 years?” I asked.
“Yes sweetie. I promise we won’t be moving again until you finish high school.” He walked up and hugged me. My mom joined and we all hugged while looking at our new home for the next 2 years.
This is going to be the start of something new.
