There was a huge thunderstorm over New York City. Though it's the city that never sleeps, it seemed like nearly everyone was determined to just stay inside. Good thing it was the weekend, so most people were able to do that. The Fab Four didn't have school, but they were supposed to go in for work. They called off.

Yeah, everyone was stuck inside for the weekend. They had a variety of things to keep them from getting bored, but they were still technically teenagers, after all. Their attention span was never very long.

Hannah lay on end of the couch, with Evelyn on the other, and Beren sat in the armchair. Sam was making herself some coffee in the kitchen, but she would be sure to sit on Hannah or Evelyn if it was necessary.

"Anyone wanna play Mario Kart?" Hannah asked. She had gotten the Switch as a Christmas present, and despite having played Mario Kart enough to last a lifetime, she never got bored with it.

Evelyn sat up immediately, and Beren put his phone down. Sam ran over with her coffee - a dangerously stupid idea - and sat down next to Evelyn. "Yes," they said in unison.

Hannah fired up her game system and handed everyone a controller. "All 48?"

   "Duh," Sam responded.

Hannah set up the settings. All 48 tracks, chosen randomly, with no balanced items. Meaning, even though you were in second place, you could get items that were normally given to eighth or ninth place. It was chaotic evil, and they all loved it.

"Waluigi!" Evelyn screeched. She hasn't chosen a character other than Waluigi or Shy Guy since she was a sophomore. I'm dead serious.

Beren picked the black Shy Guy. He'd occasionally go for Toad or King Boo, but he didn't really branch out with different characters, either. Sam and Hannah were better at having a variety of characters. Although their favorites were usually Luigi or Daisy, they would actually pick other characters, Beren and Evelyn.

"Wait! I'm gonna go throw some pizza rolls in the oven. If we're going to be playing Mario Kart for five hours, we're going to need some snacks," Hannah said. She paused the game and ran into the kitchen. Sam decided to go grab some chips and Beren-nip. It's just goldfish, but you'd be amazed at to what Beren would do for Beren-nip.

   "Get me tea!" Evelyn screamed.

"Me too! But the good stuff," Beren said.

Hannah shut the freezer door. "I don't know how to make tea so I guess you'll have to cry."

Beren rolled his eyes and tossed his blanket to the floor. While he went to the kitchen to make some tea for himself, Evelyn scooped up the blanket to use for herself. When Beren came back, he didn't bother wrestling for the stupid blanket back; he just grabbed another one from behind his chair.

Sam and Hannah were still in the kitchen. Beren and Evelyn were both too impatient to wait. Evelyn grabbed Hannah's remote. "Quick! Let's just play without them!"

Beren laughed. "Okay." He grabbed his remote and together, they started the race. "We need them to have a handicap; we suck at this."

The oven just finished preheating, so Hannah put in the trays. As soon as she shut the door, she whipped her head towards the family room. "Do I hear Mario Kart music?" Sam shut one of the cabinet doors, and together they looked through the doorway. Yeah, their friends were playing Mario Kart without them.

Hannah screeched and ran over. It was too late, though. Everyone else was about to finish the last lap. She glared at her friends. "You monsters! How could you? How many did you play without us? How long did you betray us like this?"
