A Broken Man's Poem
Julie Rose Cabral

I stopped on track as you passed me by,

A face aglow with an eloquent smile,

A beauty... timeless, classic and purified,

I'm wishing someday, once again you'll be mine.

But knowing to myself that couldn't be,

Keeping yourself busy so you won't be able to notice me,

For you, I'm just an an ancient caligraphy,

Just a past, a part of your forgotten history.

How many times should I tell you,

That I didn't leave and deserted you?

Your love keeps my heartbeat monotonous,

Please, forgive me... can we start anew?

Your my soul, my source of literature,

I made a mistake, though I promised to be faithful,

You may curse me or even give me ridicule,

If in return, I'll have again your heart that's pure.

You know, history doesn't repeat itself,

No, don't put our story on the shelf,

Those times you ignored me, you made me felt,

That I should've rotten and in hell I'd melt.

As I regretfully watch you from afar,

I note to myself, you'll never ever gonna be my star,

Can I soar even just as high as a stark?

So on earth my tears won't leave a mark.

And as our life seperately goes on,

Accepting the fact that you'll never be the mother of my first born,

But before myself and I start to move on,

Hey, can I atleast put our love into a song?
