Pressure
A short by Charlie Crocker
Many things in this world are left a mystery. We do not know for sure how the earth was formed, nor do we know how we were formed. Scientists have their theories but nobody really knows. There are so many things to be understood that it seems impossible for us to ever understand everything. We live life as if the possibilities are endless, and they are. There are many different things to do and many different things to know. Though, knowing how to live and living are two very different things. What we choose to do with this knowledge can change lives, darken corners or even stain white walls with suspicious blotches of red. Making the right decision isn't always easy. In most cases, it's quite difficult. We ask ourselves; why am I here? We question ourselves everyday. We ignore what others tell us. We have different ideas than those who know better. We rely on unreliable sources and end up falling deeper into that hole we can't seem to see the bottom of. We don't see the bottom until we're lying on it. Even then, the darkness of the depth makes it difficult for us to see the bottom clearly. We're stuck in the darkness, lost. It gets hard to hold on and everything seems hopeless. We feel useless. But don't worry. There's always a bright side. All you have to do is look up.
Humans are strange beings. We walk around, confused yet motivated. Those who lack motivation, feel hopelessness. We're all the same, yet we're all different. We see colour, hear sounds and feel pain. We see many things, hear many things, feel many things. We trust ourselves to be honest then get caught in a web of lies. We are successful, unsuccessful, happy, sad, good, evil, lost and found. We are everything but perfect, for perfect does not exist. Many of us seek perfection but we do not realize that by seeking perfection, we are spoiling everything that is slightly perfect in ourselves. Everyone has some perfection in them but true perfection is simply unreachable. We fill our minds with visions of clear skies and green grass, porcelain faces and hourglass bodies. We fail to notice that those around us are falling while we climb. It results in heartbreak and chest pain. If you stay underwater too long, you are sure to drown. Porcelain faces can't save you once all is lost. Tell me, where's your knight in shining armour now?
