A/N: This chapter to kind of weird because I wrote it for a quick write in my English class. Not all chapters will be like this.
It was a calm, relaxing morning, when all you can hear are birds chirping and the gentle rustle of leaves. If one was to walk in the garden on a morning such as this they could easily feel a sense of calm hit then like a wave crashing on a beach. Suddenly, a very loud quarrel started between the gardener and one of the valets of a sublime mansion.
"I will not cut the trees in such a horrible way!" said the gardener with repugnance.
"I know that the style is very aristocratic, but the mademoiselle wants it." the valet explains while trying to reason with him. There is a pause in the conversation that is filled with the valets pleading eyes and the gardeners filled with indignant pride.
"Fine! I don't want to cause a calamity for the mademoiselle." the gardener says with exasperation and reluctance.
"Oh, thank you!" the valet sighs "This betrothal feast will be the death of me. Now I must go before the mademoiselle starts her promenade in the garden. If you ask me she is meeting someone, but you didn't hear it from me. Good day."
The valet runs off just as a young girl, no more than 19 with an indefinable expression of excitement on her face, rushes around the corner.
"Oh, do excuse me. I did not see you there... I am sorry for I do not know your name." she says with genuine interest.
"Um... James, Mademoiselle." the gardener says while looking down at his feet.
"Well, James please do excuse my hurried manor for I am meeting someone!" Mademoiselle Billon says before running off to the secluded edge of the garden.
Mademoiselle Caroline Billon looks longingly towards the edge of the garden where a girl of the same age sits in a melancholy manor.
"Harriot, I am here but I must leave soon." Caroline says in a tormented tone. she wants to stay with her love until she dies. However, she must marry a very pompous man today.
"I am happy to simply lays my eyes on you, Caroline." Harriot says as she rushes into the arms of her love, "however, I have horrible news."
"Do tell me what has plagued our happiest of moments!" Caroline says while keeping her voice at a calm state, she is a lady after all.
"Your valet has discovered our affair." she says in a shaky voice filled with worry.
"Do not fret, I will keep him quiet. he is my servant after all." Caroline says in an indignant tone, "Now let us enjoy our small feast I stole from the kitchen." Caroline's confident tone sooths Harriot's racing heart. The girls then are able to sit and enjoy their small but romantic feast. As they are cleaning up Harriot starts to become nervous again.
"Do you hear that?"
"Hear what my darling?" Caroline says in the same soothing voice she uses when her younger sister gets a nightmare.
"Footsteps! Someone is coming!" Harriot exclaimed with horror as she hurries off without a simple "goodbye". Just then the valet turns the corner and says with a treacherous smile in his face;
"Was someone here with you? I could have sworn that I heard a woman."
"I am afraid I don't know what you are talking about..." Caroline says with a indignant but worried tone.
"Really? I could have sworn I saw someone... but perhaps I only found you eating a late lunch in the garden, not with a woman who said you "I love you" to on the day of your betrothal feast."
"Are you blackmailing me!?" she said with a shocked expression. This was turning out to be one of the most shocking days of her life.
"Oh my dear mademoiselle, don't think of it as blackmail think of it as if you're my benefactor." The valet says as he takes a step towards the mademoiselle. Looking her up and down as if to find the value of his blackmail. He adds in a whisper
"Oh, and thank you for confirming your affair. I was not quite sure of it" before turning sharply and walking off leaving Caroline in a state of shock.
