[JUNGKOOK'S P.O.V]
It was an ordinary, average day in the studio. I was at my desk working on another song, trying to create some beats for the lyrics to the song that I had worked so hard on, when there was a sudden knock at the door.
I yell unenthusiastically at whoever it was on the other side, to come in.
It turned out to be my manager Mr. Un. I gasped, dropping everything I was doing to turn my undivided attention to him.
Whatever it was he needed, it must have been terribly urgent or important for my own manager to come see me personally like this. I know he has other matters and artists to attend to.
"Hello, Jungkook." He smiled genuinely at me. Just by seeing that, I knew something was up. He never smiled. So, he was in a very good mood.
"O-oh, h-hello Mr. Un! What's going on? Here, have a seat." I jump out of my chair to pull out my other red rolling chair from under the other desk, so he could sit down.
He nodded and happily took the offer.
"Ah, yes. Well, I know you must be busy working on that new album we started."
I scoot to the edge of the chair. "Well, yeah, but I always have time for you, Mr. Un. What brings you here on your day off? Mrs. Min is here in the building to supervise." I said hesitantly, confused about why he was here. It made me curious to know the reason.
He chuckled. "You're too kind, Jungkook. Could not have asked for a more loyal, caring musician. The point is, that I was scrolling through my emails this morning when I stumbled across a business inquiry from another artist's manager. They reside here in Seoul as well."
That piqued my interest so, I leaned forward and raised a dark eyebrow.
"Oh, really? Go on." I encouraged him, moving my chair a bit closer to my manager. I wanted to know more about this other artist.
"Caught your attention, did I? Okay, so he is a couple years older than you, this kid... But he's very talented. His manager is a lucky guy to have this young man. He's not very well known, like you and I, but I thought it might be a good idea to collab with him on one of your songs off the album. Maybe do a music video together. That way, you can both get exposure that you need. Two birds and one stone, right?" He shrugged with his hands outwards, as if gesturing to me that it was worth a shot.
I sit back into my chair and cross my legs.
"Perhaps... What's this person's name?" I tilt my head. Mr. Un leans back into the backboard of the chair.
"His name is Park Jimin. He is an interpretive dancer as well as a break out singer for soul and R&B."
I rubbed my chin between my index finger and thumb.
"Oh, him! I think I've heard some of his stuff. He's pretty good but, we've never spoke. What do you have in mind, boss?"
"I thought that you two could shoot an MV in the Seoul forest of Seongdong-gu. For your song Sky of Yesterday."
My face changed as I heard him say those words. My once inquisitiveness faded as a frown replaced my grin.
"But, sir... Isnt that place where those stars have been found dead? They closed it down."
Mr. Un laughed, holding his stomach.
"Oh, don't worry, Jungkook. Those were mostly false rumors. A lot of those stars were getting older, their careers beginning to to die out so it resulted in them probably turning to drugs and booze. Besides, you won't be anywhere near that area. It will be more to the south end, where not a lot of citizens go. It will be just fine!"
A knot formed in my throat. Part of me wanted to say no and turn him down, but opportunities like this do not come around often.
So, I pushed any negative thoughts I had to the back of my mind and smiled.
"Yeah, you're right Mr. Un. I trust you. It will be fun. Plus, Jimin sounds like a cool guy."
My manager stood from his seat and pat me on the shoulder for reassurance. "See? That's the spirit. I forwarded his contact info to you. Look him up and send him a message. I will let you work out the smaller details with him. Since I have a bunch of meetings to attend in the next few days, I will be sending my second in command Mrs. Min and a few guys from the production team. They will go with you to set it all up."
I stand up as well to see Mr. Un out. "Oh, alright. I'll take care of it." I nod and smile. "Will I have some body guards as well?" I ask as I open my door to let him out.
"Of course! Glen, Sara, and Jin will be with you." He waved dismissively at me, not making any eye contact as he did so. "Gotta make sure there aren't any fangirls slipping through the cracks. I will book that whole area so there will not be any disturbances or tourists wandering about. It will be roped off to shoot the video. Okay, Jeon? I believe in your abilities."
He grasped me by the shoulders to gently shake me. We both laughed.
"Alright, alright. You have me sold! I'll send him a message tonight."
"There's my boy! Now, I will let you get back to your music making. I'll keep in touch along the way. Be sure to check your email, okay? You are so bad at that." He teased me. I rolled my eyes in response, swinging the door back and forth in my hand.
"Yep! I got it. Have a good evening, boss!" I say half sarcastically, doing my best to rush him out of the door.
We said our final goodbyes and I shut the door behind him when he left. I turn around and went back to my desk to finish mixing the beats for my song.[END: CHAPTER 1]
