"Got all your Valentine's and candy?"

"Yes mama. Right here." She lifted her bag placed in her right hand to show you.

"Alright princess let's go." You got your keys and headed to the car. Taking your 8 year old daughter to school and dropping her off. To kill time until the mall opened you went for coffee and a quick breakfast bite. Bill was God knows where but you knew he'd be at the mall around 11. You did work on your computer for work and when you saw it was 10:40 you packed up and left. Going directly to the mall where Bill was waiting for you. You love that man to pieces but this Valentine's Day he was so caught up planning the date for tonight he may have forgotten about your Valentine's gift. It didn't matter to you much though because you know the man loves you. You parked your car in the lot and got out. Walking to the doors then got out your cellphone to call and ask him where he was exactly. As soon as you got your phone out you saw a text from him. As though he knew what you were going to ask.

Bill: I'm in Dillards babe.

You: Alright I'm coming.

You reached the little girls section and found your husband with about 5 dresses in hand.

"Can't decide what dress to get her?" You asked as you snuck up behind him.

"I can't I was hoping my wife could help with that."

"I'll see what she can do." You laughed and he leaned in to kiss you quick before showing you the options.

"I like the red. They will go perfect with a day like today and they match her black flats that we got her just lest week."

"You're saying I can't buy her shoes?"

"I know you love her and want to spoil her but there's a line Bill. I love you but no you can't get her brand new shoes today."

"Fine. I'll pay for this then we can go to the flower store and so I can get two roses."

"Why two?"

"One for my wife and the other for my daughter whom we created out of love." He kissed your hand and you both walked to the counter.

"So since my plans for tonight don't include me and you I figured we both go have a nice lunch."

"That sounds lovely. Where are we going for lunch?"

"It's a surprise."

"Bill I drove her in my own car and you yours. I kind of need to know our destination."

"No babe. We'll drive home to drop off your car then hop in mine." He gave you a kiss and left to his car and you yours. Pretty soon you both reached the house and left again. He took you to the restaurant where you two first met.

"Where are you taking Scarlett tonight?"

"Olive garden. She loves that place more than you do I believe. Are you sure you don't want to come with us tonight? I'm positive our daughter won't mind."

"I'm sure. You want to take her out just the two of you and I'm not going to stand in the way babe."

"I Just want to show her how a real man treats a woman."

"She's only 8 Bill."

"It doesn't matter to me. She's my baby girl and I don't want her to grow up thinking it's okay for any guy to treat her any kind of way."

"This is why I love you."

"I love you too." He kissed your hand and the two of you of you finished your food. You two spent the two and half hours you had left together walking around. Doing some window shopping. He dropped you off at home after and had Alex go get Scarlett from school. While Bill went to Alex's to get ready. When she walked in the door she immediately pulled out her Valentine's card she got from her class mates and showed them to you.

"So many yeah? Hey there's a surprise waiting for you on your bed." Her eyes widened in excitement and she ran up to her room. Where there was a teddy bear with the rose Bill got her. Along with the red dress you picked out for her ans he bought.

"This is for me?"

"Yes sweetheart. Someone very special going to take you out tonight."

"Daddy?!"

"How did you know?"

"Guess." She smiled hard and you went to the bathroom abd started her bath.

"How do I look mama?" She asked you as she twirled around in her dress.

"You look beautiful princess." You were about to say something else when there was a knock on the door. You got up and opened it to see Bill dressed up.

"I'm looking for Scarlett Skarsgård. Is she here?"

"She is." You smiled and let him in and Scarlett came.   He stood in awe and looked like he was about to cry but held it in. He took her hand in his and before they walked out he blew a kiss your way and left. As the night progressed you say in yhe couch in your silk nightgown waiting for them to come home. You checked the time and saw it was 10 and they should be home any second. Just as you were about to go back to reading your heard keys in the door and soon saw Bill holding your tired daughter.

"After dinner we got ice cream and the next thing I know is she's asleep in the backseat."

"Awe. You want me to take her up or you got it?"

"I got it babe. I'll be back." He walked up the stairs and to her room. You stayed put on your spot on the couch and waited for him to come back. About 10 minutes passed and he came back and say beside you.

"That little girl sure can eat I'll tell you that."

"Yes she can. I take it you two had fun tonight."

"We did. I had to keep myself from crying half the night though. I know she's only 8 but she acted so grown up today. Made me think about the future."

"The future may seem like it's close but it's further away than we realize. She will always be our little girl no matter what. What matters tonight is that she went out on a lovely date with her dad who loves her to pieces. That she knows what real gentleman acts like. I'm glad to call that man my husband."

"This man is proud to call you his wife and that beautiful little girl our daughter. I promise tomorrow I'll make up for tonight. It won't be Valentine's Day but I can sure treat my wife to a lovely night out."

"Nonsense. Just knowing how a good a man and father you are is enough for me this Valentine's Day. I'd want nothing more."

"Happy Valentine's Day."
