I've read a lot of books explaining what the surface believes Heaven to be like; clouds, beautiful islands, lights and white staircases, nothing but smiles and forgiveness. The thing is, they're not exactly wrong. There are clouds, there are beautiful islands, there are staircases and bright lights, there are smiles. They just believe it to be far more innocent than it really is. The clouds, although they're stunning, seem intangible and fake. The islands are unreachable, too far away to safely travel to. The light is blinding, and the pearly white staircases only reflect it. The smiles are forced, and forgiveness is not in our vocabulary.

They also seem to believe that Hell is our enemy, a place in which we belittle and look down upon. In reality, we go hand in hand. See, Heaven is more of an institution rather than a paradise. And while God sits atop his throne doing the things only archangels are meant to know about, we're kept in our factory; a large building made of fair white stone with vines delicately wrapped around the pillars. A palace made to seem wonderful on the outside, despite the inside being nothing but sorrow.

However, the angels aren't allowed to feel this sorrow. We're taught not to by the many classes we're forced to attend. Keep a grin, laugh when necessary, don't let your feelings get the best of you, or else you'll be sent away. This is another aspect of Heaven that humans fail to realize, being sent here after death really isn't a blessing. Hell isn't much better though.

We don't know much about Hell. We know that some of the lost souls are sent there to work for all eternity, much like here. But we don't know what their job is. Ours is manufacturing happiness, keeping peace and faking perfection. We do know that Hell is where we're sent if a depression takes us, but we don't know what they do to fix you. Usually, you'd be sent to a doctor for fixing. Hell is only for serious cases.

I was one of those cases.
