During the time that the King slept, Yao and many historians studied and transcribed the history preserved in the cavern and found the locations of temples that had remained hidden. Every bit of history and every artifact that the Jack was willing to take from the untouched temples were stored in a special room.
Tapestries that covered the main temple's walls were studied, revealing a dark reality of what life was like under the Great Priestess. Her figure on the tapestry was beautiful but the deeds that she did gave her the name of the Great Destroyer. She would search the land for any who possessed the power of the time mages, killed their families and took them to any of the twelve lesser temples. Those that were taken would be children, no older than five. From the many paintings and carvings, the group had a theory that the children were beaten for mistakes, locked in small cages for disobedience, starved for periods of time to allow them to last longer periods of time without food, and many were treated as slaves or worse. Adults that had managed to hide from her were subjected to torture until they broke, becoming examples to the people who would try to rebel. She would choose three children to train at the main temple, two becoming sacrifices to remind the people of her power and the third would be forced to be her pet until the child died or became too old for her to enjoy, they would be killed for entertainment. The paintings showed her being able to freeze time and showed many of the evil deeds she performed. She was always shown in blood red robes with a crown that looked like blood was dripping down it, her followers in lighter red robes.
There was a group of rough time mages, shown in black with a bit of blue, that would free the children and hide them away. The leader of the group was shown to have blue robes, Yao believed he was called the Great Unifier. A scene showed the Leader holding a baby, wrapped blue, and fleeing from the Destroyer. The Leader had led her away from his people, his child held close. The next scene was the Destroyer standing over the headless Leader, the babe hidden in a bush close by. The tapestry continued the tale of the terrible deeds of the Destroyer, the child growing up far from her and defying her at every turn. He was captured, looking only five, and chained to a pillar by the altar in the main temple. He somehow broke free after what looked to be nine years after his capture, killed the Great Priestess with the dagger that she had killed hundreds with, and the other red mages are shown being killed with arrows shot from blue bows or sword fights with swords of blue against the red robed ones. The same figure seemed to be leading the blue mages in the fights. The tapestry marked the three month long battle.
The blue figure wore a crown on the next tapestry they had uncovered. An army clad in green landed on the southern tip of the island. The Time Mages fought, many falling. The green army lost many more to the great power of the Mages' weapons. The figure in blue was shown walking across the battlefield, arrows of the green army bouncing off of the armor. Yao believed that this was the last stand of the Time Mages. The tapestry was so intricate that Yao could count how many mages and green foes there were. The Green King came forward to fight the King of blue. When blades met, there was a burst of great power, throwing the green king backwards along with some of his soldiers. Mighty blue arrows rained down upon the green army, piercing through metal and flesh alike. The swords of the mages struck true, the power of the blades killing in only one swing. The blue King stood in the middle of the field, the other King standing up and charging once again. Many blows and swings hit the Blue King before he managed to get behind the green king, stabbing the King with all the power his blade could channel. The green king fell, dead, and the army retreated. A terrible storm surrounded the island to protect the inner inhabitants, the mages were placed to rest and the Blue King collapsed, sealed away until someone would find him.
Yao showed Matthew and Arthur what had been found. What had once been called the Black Ages was now revealed. Arthur didn't leave the teen's side after the revelation unless he was absolutely needed. Matthew's job was to be the teen's guard and Matthew promised to protect the teen until his dying day. Yao would check in on the teen to make sure he was still alive, only allowing himself to sort through the history of the mages and their relics, the necklace he found was sitting in the King's chambers, in a small box for the king to look at later.
