The very beginning

The next day, Gabe, the author came back, “Just remember I have as long as it takes to get your story,” Gabe said, “and, just to let you know, I called your mom yesterday, she said your name was Blake, now, I’m very hungry, so I’ll leave you to your thoughts for an hour, ok?”

Only after a few minutes did I answer “sure, ok.” And soon he left and I was all alone again, but so happy. I HAD A NAME!! Do you know how wonderful it is to know your name after so many years with no name?! It’s great, unbelievable totally unimaginably great. It’s so wonderful I call the jail keeper and tell him and all the others near me. But there is no one around and soon it’s over and I’m wishing that Gabe would get back and tell me more. But he doesn’t come for what feels like days. So I do simple math while I wait.

Soon he comes back and I jump up to ask him more about me but he reminds me “this is a story all about you so I will inform you of some important things that may or may not affect the story line.”

“So, what’s the name of the book all about me,” I ask.

“I still have to think of the name of the story, but are you ready to start? Oh one more thing, the last few days I have been talking to the scientist on the island and what they know up until you disappeared and that’s where you will start telling me the story.” Gabe said.

“Wait, what? You were talking to the scientists?!”

“Yes, because I need all information I can get to write this story.”

“Can, can I hear it”

“Sure.”

Some day 40 years ago, 100 scientist, 50 guards, and 100 normal people sailed to the manmade island named Omnicron Island (36.208823 S, 125.375977 W). This island was divided into 4 sections, the living corner or the apartments, the testing area which looked like a giant white box waiting to be opened, the meal center and training course which was a giant track with food stations and tables in the middle and a clear glass floor to see the aquatic training course, and finally the port where food and strange containers of stuff that always go to the scientist in the lab.

They promised the people “if you die your family will receive 1 Billion dollars, And if you live you can maybe go back to society and live a wonderful life.” What they didn’t tell them was it was a secret military base used to create super humans. These scientists had already tried many different tests to see if you can make the body do different thing like regrow arms like salamanders but it failed. Many other animal abilities were placed in human bodies but all failed. The last animals to be tested were sea life. This section of animals had unusual success in getting the desired features. The sharkman could live on land and in water AND is 3 times stronger than the average human. Finally the scientist at Omnicron had run out of test subjects. So they asked some of the successful experiment to “help advance scientific studies.” Most resisted but then accepted after being promised “better food and a house with money to live in within 3 years time when you leave the island.”

“Is that it?” I ask.

“No way, there’s still another three pages to go.”

“Then, why did you stop?”

“Well it’s time for me to go.”

"NO it can’t be, we just got started.”

“Sorry, rules are rules.”

And so he left.  To think, I escaped that island with the help from my parents. So I sit in my cell and wait for him to come back. As hours pass I finally fall asleep and start to dream when a loud clanking startles me. As I peer from my bed, the sheriff is with a girl with long black hair that was braided and it looked like a tail. But she had a metal band around her chest which, I think, contrasted her perfectly tanned skin very nicely. The guard started viciously banging his club on my cell door and yelled “GET UP, you have a new visitor!”  I stir awake and got a better look at this girl. She was about my age, 17, and her eyes were green but, this green was strange. Her eyes had a mysterious hint of something.

“HEY BLACK or whatever your name is, meet your new cellmate Maria. Ha Ha Ha, you better get comfy because the both of you are staying here for the rest of your miserable lives! Ha, ha, ha ha ha!”

I can hear him walk down the hallway laughing to his mean little heart’s content. Just before he closes the door to the basement where my cell is I hear him start to say “ahh, man I should be a comedian…” when he closes the final door that keeps me in this dreaded place. Wait me, no maria is here too, well I probable talk to her tomorrow.

“Goodnight.” She says

“GOODNIGHT!?” I yell “THERE IS NEVER A GOOD NIGHT IN THIS GOD FOSAKEN PLACE, OK. THIS IS THE YOUR NEW LIFE GET USE TO IT!”

‘Apparently I have been in this place to long,’ I think. But my thoughts are soon interrupted by the sound of Maria, whimpering in the corner of her new home.

“Maria?” I ask quietly “I’m sorry I…”

Unfortunately, she is wailing her little head off as loud as I think she can possible go. It’s not long before Steve, the jailer comes in a makes her be quiet, forcefully. I feel bad now that I got her in trouble, but I quickly put that behind me and try to fall asleep again. As hours pass I can’t get a wink of sleep but notice two eyes staring at me from a far.

...

The next morning I wake up to yet another startling fact during the night another prisoner was added to the cell next to Maria’s. I could not see them though. As usual the day went on with Maria just lying there on her bed staring at the ceiling.

A little after lunch Gabe came back “well, looks like someone got some roommates,” He says. “Looks like we will have to move to another room and discus how we make the jury think you’re not guilty.” He winks. So as we are walking he says “I hope you know I was joking.” I nod. “But that’s beside the point; did you see the girl in the cell next to you? She looks creepy! But as I will start saying, back to the story. Let me think real quickly where we are at in the story, hmmm, oh, that’s right, we are at the part of the seconder’s.”
