Tonight I wait, and I watch for the girl with the blue eyes.

I have only seen her in my dreams before, but I had sensed that she was real and that she was nearby. In my dreams, she would stare at me, and I'd be able to see her blue eyes up close. Except they weren't just blue, they were the bluest blue you could ever imagine. Bluer than the sky. Bluer than the ocean.

And they were clear, almost transparent.

In my dreams, she saw through me- all my lies, my secrets, my truths. But I could not see through her because her eyes were like a one way mirror. She never spoke, but I knew she wanted to. She wanted to speak her mind, tell me everything she knew. Like the knowledge inside her was hurting, because she couldn't keep it all in any longer. But in my dreams, she never looked hurt. She was strong and was used to being on her own.

In my dreams, she scared me. She would come from nowhere and would only stay for a second. Then she would start to fade away before she had even fully appeared.

That was always the end of the dream.

But when I woke up, I always felt like it had actually happened, and that she was standing right beside me.

That is what scared me the most- she was real. I knew she was. I felt it.

So that's why tonight I am waiting for her. I want her to talk; I want to listen. I want to know who she is and why she's here.

Last night I hadn't seen her. Not in real life, or in my dreams. I didn't feel like trying again tonight either because I was extremely worn out and tired. I got out of bed as quietly as possible, trying not to wake anybody up.

My family was made out of my mum and dad, my 12 year old twin sisters Kailey and Jennifer, my 8 year old brother Peter, my 6 year old brother Terry, and my 2 year old sister Janessa. My name is Noah, and I'll be 16 in a couple of weeks.

By eight a.m. I could hear Kailey and Jennifer starting to get ready for school. I took this as my cue to start getting ready as well.

I shut down my computer and tiptoe to the bathroom. Generally I take quick showers, but today I let my thoughts take over. Images of the girl with the blue eyes filled my mind as the hot water streamed silently over my body.

I must've been in there much longer than I thought because when I get back to my room, the clock above my dresser reads 9:00 a.m. Fuck. School had started 15 minutes ago, and Kailey, Jennifer, Peter, and Terry are already gone. I figure there was no point in rushing since I'm already late.

I decide I'll start my day at second period, which gives me an extra hour to get changed and eat my breakfast.

"Good morning Noah," my mum calls out when she sees me hopping down the stairs. "Morning," I reply. I jump off the last step and kiss her on the cheek. "You're late." She jokes.

I've always considered myself lucky to have parents that didn't keep many rules, and whose only concern was the happiness of their children. They never seem to really mind when I'm late for school, or when I bring home bad grades.

"Can I go to Jai's after school?" I ask.

"NO! Today Peter is playing in his very first football game, and we're all going to watch."

"But me and Jai really wanted to start working on our History project."

"That can be done some other time. Tell Jai that you're busy. Oh and tell his mom I say hi and thanks for dinner the other night."

"Fine." I give up the argument.

Jai's mum and my mum had been best friends since elementary school, and so naturally Jai and I had become best friends as well.

But after school I hadn't really planned on going to his house. I wanted to go to the public library to do some research on the girl with the blue eyes. I thought that maybe others had seen her too, and knew more about her than I did.

But now I guess that would have to wait until tomorrow.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Hey." Emma greets as she sits down in the desk beside me. Still groggy from staying up late last night, I quickly glance towards her and nod in acknowledgement.

"So, um, areyougoingtothedancethisFriday?" She huffs out in one breath, nervousness threatening to break through her still voice.

Shit. Emma and I have been dating for a couple months now, but I had actually been planning to break up with her. I just felt like there wasn't any kind of special connection between us, and I thought she had felt the same. But apparently not, so fuck. I definitely didn't want to go to the stupid dance, but Emma was honestly the sweetest girl I've ever met, and even if I didn't like her that way, I still cared about her feelings.

"Oh, yeah," I mumble. "I've been meaning to ask you." I clear my throat dramatically. "My dear Emma Rosse, would you be the fairest young lady as to attend this ball with me Friday night?" I say with a terrible English accent and a forced smile plastered on my face. Luckily, she laughs and doesn't seem to notice my lack of enthusiasm.

"I'd love to, kind sir." She grins before turning around in her seat. I watch sleepily from the corner of my eye as she gracefully drags her textbook out of her bag.
