~Chapter 3~

I couldn't help, but think of Rick for that whole week. Where is Rick? What is he doing now? I could barely think without these thoughts going in my head. I had to do something; I had to put an end to these sleepless nights.

I had an idea, but it was pretty stupid and idiotic. I needed help though, and I knew exactly who I wanted to bring with me. I just had to get out of my house. I need to make sure my mom had no clue what I was up to so I had to find Keith.

It was 7:30 AM, so he would be waiting outside on the stairs of the school; like he did every morning. I kinda felt like a stalker knowing all of this, but that's what happens when you like someone.

When I pulled up to the school Keith was exactly where I thought he would be. He was sitting on the stairs reading a book, I couldn't tell what book, but it was a book. I ran up to him as fast as I could and sat next to him on the stairs.

"Keith!" I whispered.

"Brooke, what are you doing here? School doesn't start for almost a half hour." He observed.

"I kinda, sorta, maybe need your help."

"With what?"

I smiled, "well I can't really tell you right here right now. So will you just come with me and I'll explain in the car. Please!"

"Fine, but this better be important because I don't skip school for just anyone."

"Oh trust me it is, now let's go."

I pulled Keith along dragging him to my car. I didn't know how I was going to tell him, but he had to know the truth going into this.

In the car I looked Keith in the eyes and said,

"What I am going to tell you is to stay in this car and never get out! I am not even supposed to tell you this, but I have to because you have to know what you are getting yourself into."

He looked at me very confused,

"Ok, I promise I will not say anything!"

I believed him and continued, "I have a problem, there is this guy that is after me and my mom because of what I am going to tell you."

"Oh, ok this is serious then?"

"Yes, Keith this is very serious, my family's life is at risk. Anyways, for the past one hundred years my family has been known for having special powers. Powers that no other known people in this world have. You see, we are mind readers. My mother is one and her mother was one, and now so am I."

I let his shock go away and then I continued, "When my mother was my age there was a guy named Rick that was lets just say not so good and he has special powers too, different ones, but they were special. But he was going to use them to kill a lot of people and my mom stopped that. After that he wanted to kill her and now he's back after both of us."

I could see the shock and sacredness in Keith's eyes, "WHAT?" Keith screamed as I covered his mouth with my hand.

"You can't scream in here people will know something is wrong!"

"I'm sorry Brooke, I just don't know what to say." He whispered.

"Its, ok its not that bad being able to read minds you get used to it, but all I need is for you to come with me to find Rick! Can you do that for me?"

"I said I would didn't I?"

"You did,"

"I always keep my word, so I say let's go!"
