Hinata hummed to herself as she put her hair in a smooth bun on top of her head. Sakura, her best friend, was sitting on her bed.No their bed.  Hinata had to keep reminding herself that the stuff in this house was no longer hers or his but ours. She was engaged and she had to keep reminding herself of that.

Not Sasuke was ever home. Of course he was home after work but his mind always seemed distant. He always seemed to be bent over paper work or reading something off his computer. Hinata would always frown watching him. She herself was usually bent over wedding plans but always managed to pull herself out to cook or clean or attempt conversation.

"Earth to Hinata!" Sakura shouted, eyebrows furrowed. It seemed like the more time Hinata spent in this house the more distant she became. Sakura was worried that soon Hinata would be excatly like her fiance.  That was worrisome.

Startled, Hinata knocked off a brush from the counter top, "Huh?"

Sakura's hand came up to her head, "Hinata, your spacing again!" If this keeps up , I'm calling off the wedding myself!

Sakura hated the idea of her best friend being forced into a marriage with a guy she barely knew. She didn't understand the rules and concepts of the upper class but she felt like this type of marriage couldn't be legal. Hinata had attempted to explain the legal stuff but to Sakura it didn't matter. It was all a coy ploy at political gain. The two companies didn't care about either of the young adults and that was all too easy to see.

"Sorry, I was thinking about the wedding again," Hinata smiled sadly, "You know the wedding dress, the ceremony." She sighed dreamily. Even if the wedding was fake, the ceromony was real and Hinata wanted it to be perfect.

Hinata's ears picked up the all too familiar noise of Sasuke coming through the door. She knew he would expect dinner but tonight she didn't have it ready. She felt her body tensing as she realized this was the first time she was so  unprepared.

Sakura watched as Hinata froze and knew it had to do with the sound from the living room. For a second, Sakura was worried this bastard was abusing Hinata. Anger boiled in her veins as she watched Hinata run to the living room. She listened carefully. Obsviously, he wouldn't know she was there and if anything happened, Sakura could run out with the baseball bat kept under the bed.

Hinata slowed her pace as she entered the living room to greet Sasuke. "Welcome home!" she smiled softly, "I'm sorry. I forgot to make dinner. Please don't be angry. I'll make something quickly." Hinata bent her head, ready for the anger. Her father had a temper when it came to his food.

"Don't worry about it, Hinata. You work too hard. Its one day out of the thousands we've been together," Sasuke waved his hand before putting his briefcase down next to the sofa.

She really needed to calm down. He could see it in her eyes. She was worried he would be mad. And if he was being honest with himself, he probably would have been if it wasn't for her meek appearance. She looked ready to burst into tears at any moment. His stomach tightened with the thought of her crying because she thought she failed.

Hinata looked at him through her lashes. Surprised that he hadn't yelled at her. "Sakura's also here, Sasuke."

Sasuke frowned. The pink haired girl? He wasn't fond of her in the least bit. She always seemed to hate him for no reason. "That's fine. Is it okay with you if I invite Naruto over? He could probably pick up some ramen for dinner anyways."

Hinata smiled and nodded her head before returning to the bedroom. Once inside she found Sakura wielding a baseball bat looking ready to kill. Hinata tensed in the doorway.

"Did he hurt you, Hina?" The glint in Sakura's eyes could kill.
