I can hear my heart methodically pounding in my chest. It's the first day back at school since my treatment. My days of having straight, blonde hair were over. The doctors said it'd be about a month until it starts growing back. "What if people make fun of me?" I keep thinking to myself. "Will people laugh at my head?"
I don't want to wear a wig like some people do. They usually don't look the best. Not to insult anyone, but some wigs don't look like actual hair colors. I'll just wear a hat or something. The next day that is. Today, I'm going as my true self. It's not like the first day I'm going to dress up to not look like myself. Frankly, I never do.
