I hurried through the mall, trying to dodge oncoming people. "Sorry." I mumbled quite a few times.
I had to make it to the store quickly so I could get the dress that I needed to win the game. There was no way I was going to lose.
I looked down at my watch and saw that there were five more minutes until the store closed. I had to retrieve a dress, but not any dress; I had to get the dress that was on display in the centre of the store. This dress was one that was the most expensive thing in the whole store; and I was going to steal it.
As I turned the corner, I saw the store at the end of the hall. I scurried quickly towards it sighing in relief as I made it with only two minutes to spare. I had to quickly get out of here.
As I searched through the store, I saw the dress hanging there in all its glory. Most people would think that I'd just take it, shove it in my bag a run out the store, but I'm smarter than that. There are cameras around every corner of this store. Instead of going with the cliche way, I decided to go with my own. I took the dress of the poll and then grabbed another one from behind it. I then walked towards the fitting rooms and told the cashier that I was trying on one dress. She was the only other person in the store, so she couldn't see that I had two dresses in my hand. The next part is obvious. I ripped the tags off of one of the dresses and shoved it in my bag.
"Ma'am, the store is about to close." I heard the cashier say.
"Thanks for the heads up. I'm just taking the dress off, I'll be out in a minute." I lied, checking my hair in the mirror. I counted to thirty and then opened the door with one of the dresses still in my hand.
"Would you like to buy that dress miss?" The cashier asked.
"No thanks. It doesn't really fit me the way that I'd like it to." I responded handing the dress over to her.
"Oh what a pity. Enjoy the rest of your night." She said and then walked away. I smiled at her and then walked towards the front of the store. I guess that was a great success... or so I thought. As I walked out the store, the alarm went off signalling that I had been caught. Shit.
Before anyone could catch me, I chucked the hood of my hoodie over my head and then ran as fast as I ever had. I could hear the calls of the cashier shouting for me to stop, but I was not going to do that. I can't afford to go to jail. I kept running until I finally made it out of the shopping centre uncaught.
"Did you get it?" I heard him say from behind me.
"What do you think Damien?" I said walking towards him.
"Oh I know what I'm thinking." He said snaking an arm around my waist.
"Ugh, what the fuck! I got the dress! Now let's go collect our money." I said pushing him away and walking towards his car. Damien and I were dared to steal a dress and return it to our rivals before ten o'clock. In return, we would receive a reward of two thousand dollars. Pretty great, right?
"Do you know how hot you look in all black?" Damien said placing his hand on my thigh.
"Damien get you're hand off me right now or else I'll take all of the money and you know that I will." I warned and as soon as I said that, he took his hand off me. I am known for being tough and rebellious. That's just my title, but my name does not sound like it. My name sounds so innocent, but my personality is no where near it.
We soon made it to the warehouse that our rivals were in. Standing in the doorway of the warehouse was Zack Jones. One of his leader's 'men'.
"Did you get it?" He asked eyeing me up and down.
"You'll find out soon." I responded walking right passed him. I had been in the warehouse several times, so I knew my way around it.
"Vallorie, slow down!" I heard Damien puff from behind me.
"No." I said sternly as I entered the room that I knew all too well.
"Vallorie Minsetta! How great to see you again! Did you retrieve what I wanted?" Kyle, the leader, asked. Without even responding to him, I chucked the dress on the desk that was in front of him and then placed my hand on the satchel that was also on the desk and pulled it to put it over my shoulder. This held the two thousand dollars. I saw Damien open the satchel to make sure that the money was in there.
"Very good little girl. Might have to give you a reward." Kyle said, standing up from his seat and then walked around his desk to stand beside me.
"Never in a million years." I said and then began to walk towards the door. Just as I turned the corner, Justin, another one of Kyle's men, blocked me.
"Not so fast little girl." I heard Kyle say from behind me.
"Kyle, get the hell away from me." I said, keeping my composure. There was no way I was going to show fear.
"I don't know if you know, but I have a new person to join my group." Kyle said. I spun around to face him.
"You can't do that! It's against the rules!" I shouted in his face. Although he was taller than me, I was not going to show any fear.
"What rules?" Kyle spoke, ripping up the piece of paper that held the rules right in front of me. The rule was that we couldn't gain another member until six months after we had just gained one. It has only been four weeks since Kyle got one, he or she is still in training so no one but Kyle knows who it is. This one that Kyle is asking to come was obviously trained. He or she might had come from another gang.
"Zack, go get him." Kyle ordered, playing a smirk on his ugly, lying face.
"Kyle this is not on." Damien said trying to get Kyle to face him. I was the more fierce one of Damien and I.
"Shut up Damien!" Kyle shouted, swatting Damien's hand off of his shoulder.
"Now, I believe that it's time to meet the new member. Turn around little girl." Kyle spoke. I did what he said and slowly spun around. My breath got hitched in my throat. My heart had felt like it had dropped to my stomach and for the first time, I felt truly scared. Standing in front of me was none other than Luke Demarco.
"Nice huh?" Kyle said walking around. I remained still. I was frozen.
"Luke, this is Vallorie. Little girl, this is Luke Demarco. You know, the one that's known to be the baddest and smartest criminal in the world who has never been caught from his crimes and-"
"I know who he is Kyle!" I cut him off, slowly walking towards Luke. For once in my life, height actually intimidated me. His posture was tall and his eyes were enough to make someone crumple down to their knees. C'mon Val! Don't let him get to you!
"Nice to meet you... Luke Demarco." I spat walking around him to exit the warehouse.
