"Okay, I'm going to take role before we leave." Mrs. Roberts said. The 9th graders of Liberty High School were going on a field trip to an old building that was used as a prison during World War 2. The principal of the school had found a way to get the 9th graders to get a tour of the building for free, knowing that the trip would tie into their unit well. Mrs. Roberts' class was chosen to go first since she taught the history classes.
"Emma Allen?" "Here."
"Ash Bentley?" "Here."
"Jody Cook?" "Here."
"Dante Davis?" "Here."
"Molly Green?" "Here."
"Mira Henry?" "Here."
I tuned out after hearing my name and looked out the window of the bus. I looked out at the front of the school, it was empty now that all the other students were in class. I could just barely see the reflection of my dark brown hair and eyes. I jumped to attention when I heard the last name on the list.
"Caleb Wilson?" "Here."
Caleb was an annoying, crazy boy who always wore button down dress shirts, giving him the appearance that he was sweet, even though he wasn't.
The bus roared to a start and pulled out of the school. As the bus made it's way to the prison, I watched the world outside of the bus. I love my small city of Lakeside, California. As I watched the world outside the bus, I thought about my life. It was perfect. I had two loving parents, and the most wonderful friend ever. I must have really gotten lost in my thoughts because all of a sudden, we were there.
I looked outside the window of the bus and saw an old, gray building. It had vines growing all around it, making it look more green than gray. "I thought this was supposed to be a historical museum. It looks more like a haunted mansion." my friend Emma called out. Mrs. Roberts stood up and started to speak "Mr. Benson told me the prison isn't open to the public." Mr. Benson was our principal. He was a cool guy, but he didn't always make the best decisions. I would just have to hope that this wasn't one of those bad decisions.
Well, there's the first chapter. Hope you liked it! I probably won't update for awhile because I have lots of big exams coming up. Sorry to leave you wondering.
