You arrive at home with a huge smile on your face. You head upstairs to your room. Swinging the door open you jump on top of your bed shoving your face into the pillows screaming. You were so happy. Then you sit up real fast. Realizing that you didn't get his phone number. Or anyone's phone number. You check the time. It's 7:15. Good, it's not too late to run to Billy's and ask for Richie's number you think. You grab your coat, run outside down the street to Billy's. You knock on his door hoping his parents won't answer. Billy opens the door.
"Um (y/n), you c-c-cant b-be h-here," he said while looking outside.
"Why?" You question.
"J-just c-come inside," he says. You wonder what's going on. "(Y/n) h-here in D-d-Derry, we h-have c-c-curfew" he said.
"What? I've never heard of a town having a curfew!" You say smiling.
"T-this isn't a j-j-joke," He said. You stop smiling.
"Why is there a curfew?" You ask.
"L-l-long s-story," he says "I'll w-write i-it d-d-down on a p-p-piece of p-p-p-p..." he couldn't get the last word out. You interrupt him.
"Paper?" You ask. He nods his head. Why was his stutter so bad you wonder. It takes about ten minutes to write. During that time you look around at all his family photos. You notice there is lots of a little boy. Was it maybe his brother?
"Do you have a brother?" You ask.
"I u-used t-t-t-to," he says. You didn't ask any further questions. It seemed as the more questions you ask about himself the more he would stutter. He finally hands you the piece of paper. His writing is kinda messy but readable. Derry is a messed up place, kids die here. You read looking up at him with a startled face, he nods his head and points to the piece of paper. You continue reading. My brother Georgie died a while ago. Once I start to talk about him my stutter gets bad. That explains it you think. There is this thing here in Derry, It kills kids. No one knows about It besides us losers. The police, the parents, any adults can't see It. But this thing is killing the kids. Only kids can see it. The police put a curfew for seven, this is why. If you want to know more it might be better to talk to someone else. Don't tell anyone besides us losers you know this. You look up at him. Your jaw drops.
"I guess I will go home now," you say to Billy. He nods his head and leads you to the door. You wave your hand goodbye and walk down the street. Just then you remembered why you went to his house. You looked back then just kept walking. It's better I don't ask now. You think. You walk to your room with your head full of thoughts. You can't stop thinking. But the thought that kept coming back into your head. I wish I had someone to talk to. Then you kept thinking of Richie. He's so cute, I wonder if he's thinking about me. Then you fall asleep to the thought of Richie. You wake up and check the time 8:30. You realize you fell asleep in your clothes. You change into a summer dress which has flowers on it and some high white socks. Obviously to impress Richie. All your other shoes are still in boxes so you just throw on your dirty converse. You run down the stairs getting ready to leave but then your dad yells,
"Breakfast missy." You run to the table and gobble down the pancakes. Then rush out the door.
"Bye dad" you yell.
"Be safe" he answers. You grab your bike from the garage and hurry down the street to Billy's. You see he's on his bike with Richie right beside him.
"Hey (y/n)" Richie says flirtatiously.
"Hi," you blush "where are we going today?"
"The same place as yesterday," Richie says. You smile at him. "But first we gotta go to Eddies". Billy hops on his huge bike and waves his hand for us to follow him. When he starts peddling he yells,
"Hi-yo Silver AWAYYY." You ride right next to Richie cause Billy is already way ahead of you.
"Why did he yell that?" You ask Richie.
"He always yells that to get his bike going, kinda stupid if you ask me," Richie says. You shrug your shoulders. Goodness Billy's bike was fast.
"Billy's bike is so big he always rides way ahead of everyone," Richie says while rolling his eyes.
"Well I think his bike is pretty cool," you say. Richie smiles.
"You're just too nice aren't you" he giggles. Richie rides faster and then pops a wheelie.
"You like that?" He asks. You just smile. "You're really cute," he says.
"You're cute too," you say. Richie smiles.
"That's a first, but thanks" he whispers. You both don't stop staring at each other. You guys were still riding your bikes then Richie goes off the street into the grass while he's staring at you and crashed into a tree.
"Oh, my goodness Richie" you yell while pulling the breaks on your bike. You throw it to the ground and run to Richie. Billy sees that Richie fell and turns around. You pick up his glasses and help him up.
"Are you okay?" You ask.
"Yeah you're just too beautiful, I couldn't get my eyes off you," he says while dusting the dirt off his clothes. You hug him. He gets startled but then hugs you back.
"G-guys! S-s-stop f-flirting" Billy hollered. You guys bounce off each other. Richie blushes while pushing his glasses up.
"Sorry" you reply.
