Leaning against the brick wall of Jasmine High, Jayden played with a thin piece of rope. He tied it around his neck, slowly pulling on the frayed edges until he couldn't breathe.                              Once he was sure he was chocking, he smiled.                                                                                                         His vision started getting blurry, and the world darkened. He loved every second of it.                      Suddenly, he was jerked back to reality. He was breathing again, the rope still tied tightly around his neck.                                                                                                                                                                       Jayden ripped it off, his smile turning into a frown. Every time, he nearly made it, nearly succeeded in killing himself, nearly made it to the death he wanted so much.                                              But every time, he would start breathing again. He would then be pulled back into the world of the living, the damned world he hated so much.

Footsteps echoed on the hard cement, a silhouette appearing in the distance. Jayden could recognize those footsteps anywhere.                                                                                                                             She came.

Christina walked towards him hesitantly, as if she were approaching a sleeping lion who could wake up at any moment. He stayed where he was, having already made the decision to let her come to him. He already knew exactly what he was going to say.                                                                 "Hey, Chrissy. Did you miss me?"                                                                                                                                     She looked at him, confused. He waited, searching her face for some kind of recognition. After a whole minute of quiet staring, he finally understood. His eyes widened in surprise.                            "You don't remember me." He said.                                                                                                                              "Um, should I?" She answered, the confusion not leaving her face.

She didn't remember him. It was obvious.                                                                                                          Jayden hadn't planned for this.                                                                                                                                          He needed to tell her something important, but how could he explain it if she didn't even remember him?                                                                                                                                                                        I should have seen this coming, he thought, they say the Gap can make people forget about their former lives... But I never thought it could make Chrissy forget, of all people.

Christina cleared her throat, pulling him away from his thoughts.                                                             He glanced at her, taking in her pretty, clueless, face. Sighing, he decided not to tell her everything. Yet.                                                                                                                                                               "My name is Jayden. I know you, but you don't know me...anymore. I don't have enough time to tell you every thing tonight, but trust me, this is really important." He said.                                                She nodded slowly, pretending to understand. "Okay... So can I leave then?" She answered. "No!" He shouted. "I mean, sure. Yeah, you can leave. But, uh, do you think you could come back here tomorrow? I really need to tell you something, it's just kind of hard to explain..."                              "Sure, I guess I'll be back tomorrow then?" She answered, making it sound like a question.             Then, just like that, she left.

Jayden slumped against the wall. There was no way she was coming back. He had completely blown his chance. Why did he shout at her?                                                                                                                 Every time someone told him they were leaving, he panicked. He couldn't help it.                                   Too many people had already left him.
