MONDAY

Dear Diary, today I met the most promising candidate to be my prom date this Friday. His name is Connor Western, and he looks like a regular Channing Tatum. He's not my future husband, but he's definitely boyfriend material. He's so studious, he's tech-savvy, street-smart and a completely dashing 18-year-old. His birthday is in March, so he's mature. He's also six-foot-one. I bet he could even play for the NBA one day. Plus, he is so handsome in anything.

List:

1. He is charismatic- a regular Shakespeare.

2. He's the quarterback on the football team with a full scholarship to UCLA. He's the king of slam dunks and 12-pointers. Soccer champion. Golf legend. Wrestling Hercules.

3. He's BRILLIANT! He is tech-savvy and he is so studious, he he started his own peer tutoring program.

4. All the girls love him, obviously. He has such great hair that shows off his bright blue eyes like Zac Efron. He's so cute in red. Chiselled shoulders like Jacob from Twilight.

But...the one girl that currently stands at getting his attention is Lisa Hanson.

---NINA.

Nina put away her purple journal and slipped it into the middle drawer of her wooden desk. She wanted something special to hold as a keepsake from prom if Connor asked her out.

Connor has the best taste in gifts, but also the most romantic. He was like the Yin to her Yang, the moth to her flame...well, you get the idea.

Nina sighed dreamily as she exited her room towards the beginning of a very long week. She envisioned him with her in the dim lights of the gym, her in a sparkly blue dress, him in a black tux...with his arms around her, him only having eyes for her. Nina pictured him going on a date with her to the beach, eating ice cream together or at the outdoor restaurant Roma's together. Or would he prefer something simple like hazelnut coffee with a simple walk down the park...

Nina cocked her head as she applied her pink lip balm and opened her silver star-shaped compact mirror. I need to think, as she applied light mascara and eye shadow. Do I really want to seem like I'm shy around him? Or sound antisocial or something?

Nina began to worry as she grabbed her schoolbooks and checked herself in the mirror. OK, so her ruffled pink printed tee and her blue high-waist jeans with her favourite sneakers would work. One more thing she said as she adjusted her hair into a high bun and grabbed her sweater. What time is it, she looked down at her wristwatch.

Half-past seven. Oh, shoot. She winced as she grabbed her backpack and gently put it over her right shoulder.

CHECKLIST:

1. PROM DRESS- CHECK

2. PROM SHOES- CHECK

3. PROM DATE- STILL WORKING ON IT...

4. I NEED ONE CONNOR WESTERN TO SAY YES...

Nina waved down a taxi from her New York apartment and got in it right away, then she checked her makeup and fixed her hair, looking into her bedazzled amethyst-like compact. Nina was ever so grateful that she had an itinerary To Do list to go over right away. Nina looked over her checklist after telling the driver where to go.

''Times Square, please.''  She said gently to the driver.

''Yes, ma'am.'' He said over his shoulder.

Hey, it's not like Madison Square or the Rose Gardens , but it was home. Nina thought, gazing out the window, looking at the city lights.

Winter is the best time for walking under the city lights, especially at Christmastime. Nina wished it was Christmas break ,but it ended months ago. Now ,it was the most nerve-wracking time of the year, but also the most romantic.

''Well, that was fast.'' Nina said ,impressed. She paid the taxi driver and got out of the car. She then walked into Macey's, one of the biggest department store in New York City.

''Now, where is it?'' Nina asked herself, buying a velvet red ensemble for herself to wear for Christmas.

Next year, this will be all the rage, she thought happily to herself, as she walked towards the cashiers section. The queue was long, but that's the price you paid for shopping at a fantastic clothing store.

Prom night is going to be so much fun, she thought to herself, as she walked towards the back of the line. Nina then saw the most perfect sparkle black boots to go with the red ensemble. She took them immediately, put them in her cart and walked towards the front of the line. Finally, I'm through., she thought to herself.  As she walked towards the cashier, she placed the boots and the skirt and top on the counter. This was not as quick as she remembered, however, that was okay. It was a busy time of the year, after all with everybody rushing to get their last minute tuxedos and dresses for prom.

Nina took out her credit card and swiped it. Then she thanked the Kacey, the sales girl ,and walked outside, placing her jacket on top of the bags.

Calling another cab, she dropped her bags in the back of the car, and the cab drove into the traffic so fast, she almost fell out of her seat.

Wow, someone's in a rush ,she thought to herself, trying to regain her balance, and looked out the window at the velvet black sky and felt the crisp air of spring...
