The Slenderman's voice came to you, along with the faint buzz of static, filling your head with soft noise.

"I'll try my best," you responded to him, dipping your head respectfully. Out of the corner of your eye you saw the creature nod back, it's body constantly shifting, reminding you of ink.

A deep voice resounded, echoing inside your head, "thank you, my child. One of my proxies will take you out of the forest."

You nodded again, happy to be leaving, and wondering whether it would be Hoodie or Toby that was going to escort you. To your surprise, however, the door opened and a man in a white mask stepped in. He looked at you. "Ready?" he asked. You nodded, and walked over to him. He held the door open for you, so you stepped out, almost crashing into Hoodie, who slipped past you, going into the room. The masked man muttered a quick, "good luck" to him before closing the door.

You opened you mouth to say something, but he brushed past you and began walking down the long hallway. You muttered something under your breath about proxies having no manners, before following him, jogging to catch up to his quick pace. He didn't say a word to you until you both were out of the mansion and in the woods.

"How was it?" He asked. You were confused for a second, before realizing he was talking about the Slenderman.

"Uh, oh! Fine, I guess, he gave me some more work to do, on top of all the stuff I'm already doing, jeez..."

He chuckled. " If I didn't know any better, I'd think Boss doesn't realize humans need breaks."

"Too bad he's just an asshole," You muttered, and Masky burst out laughing, moving his mask to the side of his face to look at you. The action surprised you, proxies you met rarely showed their face. He seemed to notice your dismay, and looked away again, his smile fading into a grim line.  He didn't put the mask back on though. You thought for a moment, before asking if he knew the other proxies.

"Obviously," He said, giving you a look. You became flustered. "I meant if you were close to them! I know you've seen them!" Did he think you were an idiot?

He smiled again, for a short second, and you realized he was teasing you. " At the moment? Their a good hundred feet away from me, but emotionally we're friends."

You smirked, not sure whether or not you wanted to hit him. He asked you what you were delivering, and you clucked your tongue, thinking back to Slenderman's orders.

"Bloody Painter, Puppeteer, and someone named Clock...work? I think. I have it written down somewhere," You said, shrugging. "And a few more people I have to visit before then."

He nodded, listening. "A full workload. Sucks to be you," he said, smiling again. You scoffed. " Well it's better than what you do, wandering around a forest all day."

He raised an eyebrow. "That's Toby's job, not mine. Have you met him?"

You snorted. "Uh, yeah. He fell down a hill."

This time the man burst into laughter again, shaking his head, like he was thinking back to all the other times Toby must have done this. He kept asking you for details. It was quite obvious he was going to use this information later, though you weren't sure how.You walked while you talked, telling him everything you could. You didn't think the encounter was that hilarious, but apparently he did.

"So what do you do then?" You asked him. He put his hands in his pockets, shoes scuffing up dead leaves. "Nothing, besides missions. I usually work close with Hoodie- you know the guy that went in after you?"

You nodded, and he took out a cigarette and lighter. "Want one?" he asked you, but you shook your head.

The both of you walked together, side by side, leaves crunching underfoot. The silence was nice, the birds singing and chattering, leaves blowing in the wind. You two had drifted closer during your conversation, shoulders nearly touching. He stopped suddenly, and you were caught off guard for a second, before realizing you'd already made it to the edge of the forest.

You turned back to him, slightly upset. "Damn, just when we were havin fun, huh?" You said to him. He adjusted his mask back onto his face. It made him look so impersonal.

He looked back at you, and shrugged. " Don't worry. Physically, we'll be miles away, emotionally, well," He chuckled, "not sure yet."

You smiled. "Well figure that out when Slender has more work for me."
