Today's Monday, and the first day of my new life in high school. But unlike my friends from middle school, I won't be going to any regular high school. Being half human, half witch, I was going to Spellcaster Academy, a school for witches, warlocks and wizards, in the Magic Dimension. I stared atmyself in the mirror.
My light skin tone complimented my blue eyes, and went well with my red hair. I was wearing a red long sleeved buttoned dress with a ruffled skirt, with red and black striped tights and black heels. I was hoping to achieve that typical witch look, but I already knew I was never going to fit in. I didn't know the first thing about magic!
"Solange, in 10 seconds, I'm leaving with or without you!" my mom called from downstairs. I quickly grabbed my bag and exited the room. I had to learn the hard way that mom wasn't kidding when she sent threats like that.
"Out you go. Have a nice day at school swetie" mom said, dropping me off in front of the local library. As I walked inside, I noticed it was completely empty. Some of the lights weren't even on.
"Solange, dear, is that you?"
I turned to see the librarian, Miss Brimsky, turn on the main light. I smiled and walked to her desk.
"Good morning Miss Brimsky" I greeted. She smiled.
"Shouldn't you be off to school?" she asked.
"I'm going to Spellcaster this year. I need your portal" I replied. Miss Brimsky looked at me surprisingly, then motioned for me to follow her.
Miss Brimsky had 2 separate rooms connected to the library. The first room her house. You could say she lived in the library. The second room, the room we were headed for, was the magic library. Like my parents, Miss Brimsky was a witch born in the Magic Dimension. She came to the human world to share her love of books with everyone. In the magic library was my exit ticket. The portal that led to the Magic Dimension.
"Bye Miss Brimsky!" I exclaimed as I headed for the portal.
"Wait!" Miss Brimsky exclaimed. I turned around and saw her pull out a long, thin box. She opened it, displaying a long, simple white wand.
"For you" she said, handing it to me. As I held the smooth wand in my hand, I stood speechless. Having a wand was the first step to becoming a full fledged witch.
Finding my voice, i said "Thank you". She nodded in reply as I walked through the portal. I was instantly transported to the hallway of the school.
"What a magical Monday".
