Dear Diary,
Imagine a love that is timeless. A love that endures everything and is infinite. Now imagine yourself with someone who makes you feel that love. Someone who seems an average person to anybody else, but to you, that person is all the good in the universe.
A soul mate. That's what you just imagined. Someone you are destined to be with for eternity. Through thick and thin, they are always there for you. Yet, finding this person is difficult. Many people claim they do not exist. At the same time, however, there are plenty of people who not only believe in them but they search diligently for them.
Maybe they don't exist, but maybe they do. The little bit of hope that they might be real is what keeps so many people going and its a hope for love that gives them a purpose in life. In books, movies, songs, and even just dreams, so many soul mates come to life in our imaginations and when we come back to reality, we have a new hope to find our true love.
It's up to you whether or not to believe in them but wouldn't it be grand if one day you bumped into YOUR soul mate? Imagine finding your man or woman (some would argue that their soul mate is food even) and being able to love them for eternity.
Maybe soul mates are real and we already met them. For all we know, they could be our best friend, our neighbor, our enemy, our penpal, or maybe someone we bump into one day. You never know.
A soul mate. Everyone dreams of what they look like, act like, sound like, feel like, and even what their name is. And sometimes when they find them, they are the opposite of what they expected yet they are still perfect. What makes them perfect if they are the opposite of what they dreamt? Society makes us believe our significant other has to be beautiful or handsome in certain ways. For girls, long lush blonde locks, blue piercing but soft eyes, and soft skin. For boys, dark ruffled hair, a slight scruffy beard, and bright blue eyes. Accents from other places are always a plus, and height is a huge factor in whether or not you are "dateable" to a certain person.
So that's what we all dream about. And we are surprised to find that when we meet our soul mate, we can be completely wrong. They might be a girl with short brown hair, and grey eyes, with a high pitched voice who can't sing. Or a guy with long blonde hair and brown eyes with no beard and no accent. But they have personalities that fit like a puzzle...perfectly.
Soul mates are strong and can find each other over time no matter what. Like Romeo and Juliet, Four and Tris, Katniss and Peeta, Cinderella and the Prince, and so many more. That's a soul mate.
