I got back to where Zane and Brooke were.
“Let me see your arms.” I said to Brooke holding out my hands
“No.” She answered backing up.
“Let me see your freacking arms!” I yell. She tries to run away and Zane grabs her. I raise up her sleeves and reveal cuts and bruises. “What is this?”
“Nothing.” She pulls her sleeve down.
“You seriously need to stop that.” I tell her.
“Whatever.” She walks away.
Brooke comes from another broken home. She cuts and her dad abuses her. Her mom acts likes nothing happens and is at work all the time.
“Zane, I’m gonna head home. Remember about tonight.” I say and walk away.
“You need a ride?” He’s pretty good at hot wiring cars.
“No, my parents will freak if a guy brings me home.”
“Ok, see you tonight.”
I walk out of the lot and take the next bus to my neighborhood. I walk in the door. No one’s home since they are at work. I walk up to my room and lay in bed. I start to think I don’t do this often. Eventually I drift off to sleep. I wake up to the sound of the front door opening. Dads home. I look at my clock its only 2:00pm. I look at the window my only way out without getting caught. I need to get to school since Kyle will be there. I grab my bag it has everything in it. I just out the window and land on the porch roof. I jump down and make sure he didn’t hear me. I started sprinting towards the street. I got to the school about 2:05. I walk in the front door. To get to the hallway you have to go thru the front office. Oh good lord here we go.
“Um, miss why are you coming in so late?” The old shriveled lady behind the desk asks.
“Oh, I was at a doctor’s appointment.” I’m a pretty smooth liar.
“Ok get to class.” She readjusts her glasses and gets back to typing.
Wow that was easy. I walk past and into the long highway. I stop at my locker to get what I don’t need for class. 31…….24……..17. Pop! I hear the latch unlock and open the door. Ok what do we have here. Books (aka a waste of paper), A pack of cigarettes better get those out of here the drug dogs do a check every few months. I stuff them in my bag and walk to class. I get in there and same response as first hour. I take a seat next to Kyle. I see a set of eyes staring at me I look and see it’s the preppy little snitch April Summers. Her beady little demon eyes make me laugh I give her the bird. She turns away and raises her hand.
“Mrs. Lyons?” She says in her preppy rich kid voice. “Ara is disturbing the class.”
Mrs. Lyons rolls her eyes. “Ara are you disturbing the class?” She raises her eyebrows.
“Nope, I’m just being a sweet little angel.” I smile and April turns away.
“Whatever.” Mrs. Lyons then begins to teach.
A note gets on to my desk. I open it. Hey, do you have any cigarettes on you. I look to Kyle and write down a response. Ya, there in my bag. I fold it back up and pass it to him. He glances at me and starts to write. Good the drug dogs are coming around this weekend and its Friday so u better get the rest of what you have. I don’t want you to get in trouble. I pick up my pencil. Anger comes over me. Stop acting like you care. I snap the pencil in to, grab my bag and storm out of the room. Slamming the door behind me.
As I’m walking to my locker to get the rest. I go into the bathroom. After checking to make sure all the stalls are empty I grab my wrap and some paper towels. Once I get into the stall I grab my switch blade and pull my shirt up exposing the skin on my stomach. I always cut here since it’s the only place my parents don’t see. I get the paper towels in my last one and the switch in my right. As the knife begins to pierce the skin I feel relief. Some do it because they think they deserve it but not me. It feels nice in a weird way I like the feeling of the warm blood sneaking down my skin. I feel like I know that I’m still here, I take the paper towels and wipe of the blood. Know body else knows. After doing it about 10 more times I attempt to wipe off the rest of the blood I then wrap the wrap around my torso to stop most of the bleeding.
I hear the bell ring it kind of starless me I wipe off the blood with some toilet paper and flush it. I close and stuff my knife into my bag. I walk slowly. I hate it when the cuts rip. I see Kyle at the end of the hall way. I continue walking like I never saw him. He reaches me a few moments later.
“What’s wrong?” His elbow grazes my stomach. I make a face of pain. “You didn’t”
I nod.
“Why.” He says sounding concerned.
“Just go away.” I say waving my hand in his face.
“Ara wait.” He says.
“Leave me the hell alone.” He stands there in shock. I continue walking.
