January 17th, 2021; Day One
Kentley, North Carolina was a peaceful town. Small and isolated, not much in or out. Everyone who lived there were retired, rich, or just looking to get away from the rest of the world, but nobody knew about Project X37-Z.
Just outside the town about a mile was a secret government research facility. The facility was called Bunker 501. It was owned by a corporation known as LFABF, or Lust For A Better Future. They tested new vaccines and cures. Project X37-Z was such cure, or so they said.
An announcement on the news revealed a new cure for cancer being developed by LFABF. The world would now no longer be under the strain of loved ones dying and people suffering. The company said that they would test the small town of Kentley first. They would be the first ones for the treatment.
March Twenty-Fourth, the day of the first distributions. People were happy as their family members were cured. Everyone was happy for the first time in Kentley history. People threw parties. People rejoiced in the streets of the small town, but later that night, everything changed.
That night in the Thumbill household, James Thumbill ate his family. Their screams woke up the neighbors and everyone surrounding, but he kept attacking people viciously. As morning broke only a couple of lucky people still survived. Those who were bit or scratched became undead and the onslaught continued. People dying left and right.
Word never got out until later that day when the dead wandered out miles from the town and started the onslaught again. People were eaten and killed, came back alive, and then ate and killed. The government called the dead Zed. They would group in hordes and take over towns by night, and in day they would hide.
America was under attack, on home soil. There was nothing to stop the attacks but try to defend yourselves. People got guns and tried to set up strongholds, but everything got out of hand.
June 30th, 2021; East Coast in Peril
The east coast was slowly overrun in the swarms of Zed. People killed people in a fight for survival. Raider groups popped up in the new labeled East Wastes. The government hadn't stepped in yet besides having few outposts with military presence. The military was not prepared however. They died along with the millions of civilians as well.
The Zed spread towards the west. Cleaning up brains and flesh along the way. They were slow, but they hit hard. People ran west as well. Nothing could stop the fact that everyone would die, a death that was brutal and gruesome. People kept trying.
The population left was estimated at 163,457 alive on the east side of the Mississippi.
August 13th, 2021; Quarantine
A quarantine border was set up just west of the mississippi river. A 15 foot tall, 3 feet thick wall stood there. One gate in the middle of the wall had 12 Guards stationed there at all times. Zed tried assaults on the gate but where always held off.
People on west of the wall were grateful for the Government stepping in and helping them out since the beginning. People all over rejoiced in the streets as a new country was declared. The New United States (Which was basically the united states minus some states) was a new powerful country.
Word got out about the American problem and other countries prepared for the same thing. However, nothing happened, and nothing would. As so said by our great President, Kaine Leveton.
December 1st, 2022; Civil Unrest
The riots and protests regarding the new president caused a civil war to happen in the New United States homeland. The land was split into 3 Sides. The Republic was supporting the re-election of Kaine Leveton. They were by far the most advanced group, but the smallest. Imagine a socialist party but not as Nazi like.
Kaine Leveton used most of his remaining power to execute those who didn't believe in him. The Republic followed his commands and did so, moving south from the northernmost point in the New United States, Oregon. They had the power to disobey the law to enforce it.
While The New Order decided to hold out against The Republic in a fight for land in power. The third group (The Democratic Nations) surrendered to the power of The New Order. By far the biggest of the three, The New Order developed new technology to fight their former allies. The New Order had a dictatorship government. Their leader was Lukas Turnoil.
The Canadian republic (Canada) was unaffected by the Virus because after getting news of the breakout in Kentley and the east coast they built a wall across their southern Border. They called the wall Titus, it was 6 Feet thick and 30 Feet tall. Canada had refused to help America and decided to cut all communications.
Mexico had done the same, but a wall was already in place. Our previous president Donald Trump had built a wall, not that I agreed with it. The american people thought that the eastern wastes were under quarantine but actually, the remainder of america was under it.
May 14th, 2023; The Moon Knights
Announced over the radio on May 1st was a person with a dark voice saying they would fix everything for everyone. The war was still going on and The Republic was growing stronger each day. The person announced that they were The Moon Knights.
Soon after the announcement a government official was announced dead. A Republic senator. He died for no reason that was known, just died at his desk. Later that night The Moon Knights responded that they were not the ones who committed the crime but supported who did.
Senators and Officials on both sides of the war mysteriously died. One official every other day, whether it be The Republic or The New Order. The Moon Knights denied every time that they were not the ones doing it, but people had their speculations. Nobody knew who lead the Moon Knights or who was in their group, but they always seemed to be away when something big happened.
The only known facts about the Moon Knights were that they had three representatives. One female and two male. They were like the big honchos. Nobody knew their names or what they looked like, but that they stuck to the shadows and did the dirty work themselves.

September 21st, 2023; Peace
The turning point was upon us as a sudden outbreak of X37-Z somehow got on the west side of the quarantine wall. People started attacking each other and eating again. The New Order and The Republic joined forces to combat the incoming Zed forces.
They formed a Coalition called “The New Republic” and took the fight to the Zed. They were skilled and worked very well together despite being enemies of two sides and pure hatred floating in the air. For once America was all together, trying to save the population.
November 1st, 2023; No Hope
As the Zed population rose and the living dropped, America once again was washed over with chaos. People turned to looting and killing, while some tried to get boats to other countries. Some formed groups of raiders and killed for sport.
There was no way that America could come back from this, they would forever be doomed to survive or die a horrible, Zed filled life. November was what some people called the month of reckoning, when our gods made us suffer for our sins. Not that I believe in any of that shit, but people say what they want.
The Republic secretly started setting up a wall around their border. They wanted to be the only ‘americans’ left. The wall was an exact replica of the first quarantine border, except had no gates. Everyone who was inside once the wall was finished would be the lucky ones. I was not one of them.
