Kim Connweller's POV

Ring, ring!

Ugh. Another day had begun and I would just be bored to death following the same old routine. The weekend had passed quickly than I had expected since I was super immersed in studying. Though honestly I didn't mind it at all because I, Kim, had no social life to speak of or grace my weekend with. I'm quite shy, you see...and awkward, nerdy (having straight As in all subjects) and a total loner. However, my family was always there for me...always supportive. Well, being an only child had its perks.

(Back-to-the present) Normally, I would read a book, flip through channels on the TV, listen to music, yadda, yadda, yadda, but most of all...I'd think about him. To dream about fantasies that I'd only wish to come true with him. There wasn't a day I didn't think about him. It was safe to obsess over and over for...

Jared Cameron.

His name, presence, voice...everything about him was perfection. I had been crushing on him ever since Kindergarten and my eyes connected with his. He was my "Prince Charming" like in the stories my Dad would tell me when I was little. I loved fairy-tales and happy-endings! If only I could wish for it to happen to me. Then Jared would be the perfect guy to be my happily ever after! Luckily for me, I sat next to him in English class everyday at school now. However, it didn't really help because I would just get nervous and jittery as he was so close to me. All I mostly did was secretly write Mrs. Jared Cameron in my favourite note book and other stuff related to him. But...sadly...and unfortunately...Jared was a big player! He would flirt with all the more popular and prettier girls in class like Maya Rozene or Cassy Kineks. Worst of all, it hurt that....he ignored me, but not completely because sometimes he would ask questions like:

"Do you have a pencil?"

"Can I borrow your eraser?"

Etc, etc, etc...

And some other similar questions, but he wouldn't turn to face me. He was so popular in the Q.T. High.  Getting to his level seemed like a distant dream. When would he ever turn those chocolate-brown eyes of his and only look at me? Since boy did I gaze at him from the corner of my eyes a lot...without him noticing thankfully. I knew him inside-out.  I knew everything about him like even where he lived...Not that I stalked him, but we did live in a close-knitted community where everyone knew the whos, whats, whens and wheres. Plus I can hear nearly everything about him since his forever bestfriend: Paul Lahote, sat in the row in front of us. Yeah, yeah. I do eavesdrop a bit, but whatever keeps the boredom away and replenishes my Jared wikipedia.

"Kimmy! Come on baby, wake up!" It was my Dad.

"Coming Dad! Sorry," I replied.

I looked at the clock. Phew! I still had time to get ready for school. I hurried in to the bathroom and looked in the mirror. Ugh! I looked like a mess! My hair was a rat's nest. Tangled, jumbled and pointing from different directions...you name it! I also had eye-bugs from sleeping late due to my gaming hobbies. Next, I brushed my teeth. Man, I'm so glad that I no longer wore braces! I used to be teased for them until last summer. Then I had a shower and got dressed in the norm of a plain shirt, black jeans and some converse shoes. Got to be presentable.

I combed my long, now silky, black hair which fell to my waist because conditioner is a life-saver. I decided to let it down for today. After that, I grabbed my homework and books which were placed on my desk as I hurried down the stairs; stumbling on my feet a little like the klutz that I was. I went straight to the living room and stared at the clock. 8am. Cool, I still had enough time to eat and walk to school. I headed to the kitchen for breakfast.

"Morning Kimmy!" both my parents greeted, mimicking each other...weird.

"Morning Mom and Dad!"

I walked up to the table and sat next to my Dad. He was reading a newspaper while sipping some coffee. Mom was busy flipping an omelet for me. She placed it between some buttered toast and served it on a plate that she placed in front of me along with some orange juice.

"Thanks Mom! This is so delicious!" I mumbled as I took a bite. What more could I ask for? I had a good relationship with my parents. But I had no friends. Oh wait. I did. Emma Carson, my childhood bestfriend...one and only friend until she moved away when her parents divorced. Her Mom took the custody and whisked her away from La Push. I wonder how she's doing...

After I had finished breakfast and washed my plate, I said goodbye to my parents (kissed and hugged them both) and went off.

"Kim! I have an extra shift at work today so I won't be home until 11. Your dinner will be in the fridge for you, so just microwave it. Take care, baby!" Mom shouted and waved from the doorway. My cheeks flushed! I hope no-one saw that or I'll die from embarassment.

I walked down the paved road towards school as greenery and a lush forest surrounded me. It only took 20 minutes of walking to get there which allowed me to get some good exercise. I arrived at Q.T. High and headed to my locker. Entering my combination, I took some books out and my favourite notebook.

"Boo!"

I jumped and dropped my books. I hurried to get everything, in case someone would take my note book and read everything I wrote about Jared. I looked up when I had finished.

"Oh my gosh! Emma Carson? Is that you? How are you? I thought you were never coming back to La Push." I went up to her and hugged her.

I stepped back after hugging her and examined her from top to bottom. Reddish-brown hair, freckles and half-moon eyes. She still looked quite the same since the last time I had saw her albeit a lot taller with longer hair that had been dyed blonde on the tips and make-up.

"Yes and I'm okay. My Mom got a job back here in La Push so we moved back...and we're staying here for good!" Emma replied enthusiastically as she went in for a celebratory hug this time.

"I'm so glad you're staying! I have missed you so much!" I cried while accepting her hug.

"Me too and you have changed a lot."

"I know and you have too! Welcome back!" I was so happy! Yay!

The bell rang. Luckily, we had two of the same classes together and she sat next to me on those two classes! Double yay! We had a lot to catch up on and she told me she was a depressed for a while when she had left. It seemed like she didn't make any new friends in Oklahoma. Also, we sat together at lunch and talked more. I had gotten so caught up in our conversation that I didn't hear the bell ring, until I noticed people moving around. I gave Emma my number and told her to come over my house some time. I reached the class and it was English...Jared! Oh no! I had to sit next to him.

Tick tock, tick tock. I sat and waited for him to walk through the door but he never came. Neither was Paul. Maybe they decided to ditch class? l know they did it sometimes and they did have a reputation for being trouble-makers. Breaking most of the rules that I could never ever imagine of doing. But today was an unusual day to skip, they were always in on Mondays.
