prologue, charity.

I see the world in only three colors. Three contrasting shades that define every object my eyes land on. Black, white and gray. I knew at some point of time in my life, I'd meet someone who would try to explain the color red to me.

"Warm," they'd say. "Like summer. Like hearts on Valentine's Day. Like... like the sun."

Of course, their attempts would be utterly and completley useless. Red equals the sun. How was I supposed to comprehend that, to process that? It meant absolutley nothing to me.

So I lived in a world where I only knew black, white and gray. And until my "saviour" came and swept me off my feet, painting me a pretty picture, a masterpiece of emotion and love and deep feeling, then I'd continue to see the sun as white. I'd continue to see blood as black, and I would always see my own eyes as a cold, unloving gray.
