“The formula for the Pythagorean theorem as most remember in your 6th year is…” Mr Pence said writing down the formula on the board.
The bell was about to ring any second and he was still teaching like we we’re gonna be here for the next 3 hours.
I tapped my pen and counted down as the big hand on the clock ticked on.
“7………….6……………5” I muttered under my breathe.
“4…………3……………2”
RRRRRIIIIIIINNNNNNNGGGG
I grabbed my backpack and headed out the door before anyone else finished getting their stuff together.
“You seem hyper. Anything going on tonight for you?” Jason asked walking in step with me towards the parking lot.
“Well let’s see. I’ve been sitting in that B.S. class for the past hour listening to Mr Piss talking about things we learned in our 6th year so of course I’m freaking hyper. And also it’s Friday, but no I’ve got nothing happening tonight.”
“You can always come to the party with me”
“And whose party would that be?”
“Kyle Richards. He has a party every Friday and I’ve told you about them and begged you to come to one ever since our 9th year.”
“Well I’m sorry. I don’t like going to parties that are held by jerks”
“He barely talks to you. How is he a jerk?”
“He’s a player and players are also called jerks”
“Oh c’mon Pey. Give the guy a chance. The only reason you don’t like him is because of the fight back in your 7th year”
“But even before that he was a stupid jerk” I said and got in my car which was parked next to his.
He rolled my window down before getting in his car. “C’mon my birthday’s coming up. If you don’t go to one of them before it’s my birthday I’ll make you come on my birthday and make you do something stupid.”
“I’ll make sure to be out of town” I said and started up the engine.
“No! This is my 18th we’re talking about Peyton. You will not miss it”
“Then rethink about what you just said Jace. Look I have to dash. Dad’s coming back home tomorrow and I have to get the house all clean and tidied up.”
“Make sure to stop by the gas station and buy some soda, chips, and water” He said putting on sunglasses.
“Oh yeah! Thanks for the reminder”
He waved it off and backed out of the space. Once he was out of the way I did the same and headed towards the exit which is where everyone was heading. Jace’s mustang was 3 cars in front of my blue coop.
“I will never say never. I will fight. I will fight till forever!”
“Hello?” I answered my phone.
“Have you been to the gas station yet?”
“Candice?” I asked.
“Who else? Anyway so have you been to the gas station yet or what?” Typical Candice. She’s always so bossy and impatient. She’s my cousin. She’s 2 years younger than me but thinks she’s 2 years older than me. Around my 3rd year Aunt Kellie, my dad’s sister, visited here to Cheshire to babysit me while dad was on his honeymoon with his new wife, Lauren. But then she realized she liked it better here than in the states so she made her whole family move. They only live half an hour away from where we live.
“No I haven’t. I’m still in the school parking lot.” I said inching forward.
“Well hurry up! We need beer there. Dad asked me to ask you to grab some this morning. But I forgot to tell you this morning.”
“What?! I’m not buying beer!”
“You’re of age. I can’t just go and buy it. They’ll demand for an I.D. and when they ask you, you just whip it out and show them, okay? We have to make this homecoming unforgettable.” She exclaimed.
“Fine, whatever” There was no point in arguing with her. She’s so stubborn.
“Great and while you’re there buy me some gum”
“Ha. No!” I hanged up and inched forward. I was almost to the front now.
I listened to 3 songs on the radio before I got to turn into Pales Way and be on my way to the gas station.
“Yeah I’m here. Just outside the gas station on Crestian Road” Some guy was muttering into a phone. He had a camera in his hand and another around his neck. I shut the door and made sure it was locked before going into the store.
DING
“Miss you’re not allowed in here”
I turned around. It was the guy at the cashier who had talked. And he was talking to me.
“Excuse me?”
“You’re not allowed in here at this time. I’m asking you to step back outside.”
“Can I ask why? I need to get some things here and I made a huge deal about getting here right after school so I’d really like an explanation.”
“Well some things are happening and you’re not allowed in here.”
“Well I didn’t see a sign on the door or anywhere. My dad’s coming home tomorrow and I really need to grab some things for his homecoming party, but apparently your telling me I can’t buy things in here?” I put my hand on my hips, “For me to get out of here I need a very believable reason sir. I see people over there” I pointed to the drinks section, “How come they’re in here?”
His face turned bright red, “Well if it’s for your father’s homecoming party then of course. Feel free” he mumbled.
I rolled my eyes and walked off towards the chips and grabbed a bag of each kind then grabbed a 12 pack of coke and bud lights.
At the counter the guy scanned the things and told me the price without even looking at my I.D. for the bud lights. I think he was scared of me by the way he kept looking away whenever I looked at him. I got the things and got them in the car.
I was about to drive off when I remembered about the water. Lauren would go ballistic if there wasn’t any water around.
I got back in the store and headed for the freezer section. A seventeen magazine caught my eye and I picked it up and looked through it.
I was about to put it back in the stand when someone bumped into me.
“Will you watch it?” I snapped turning around to face the culprit. And instead facing those gorgeous green eyes.
