Finding Paradise

CHAPTER 3: MY TOWN

Kai wakes up the next morning and remembers the events from the night before. *"Did I really tell Harry that I'd show him around today? Or was that a dream?"*

She gets out of bed and makes a small pot of coffee. She cleans out Dom's litter box and refills his food and water bowls. "You're all set for the day Your Majesty", she tells Dom. He looks her over before finding a spot to lay on. "Your gratitude is what I live for, Dom", Kai says as she retrieves her phone from the charger.

**Text to Leia: Good, ran into the a-hole. He made a scene, I wouldn't be surprised if Harry decides to cxl today.😝**
**Text from Leia: Ew, can he just go away? Cxl what? U have plans?**

Kai takes a seat at her table with her cup of coffee. One hour to kill before she's supposed to meet Harry. She grabs her beach bag and tosses a couple of towels into it. She decides to throw on her swimsuit just in case they make a beach stop and then throws a tank top and denim shorts over that. Grabbing her trusty ball cap and sunglasses she loads the bag into her truck and then retrieves a cooler from the corner of the garage.

She goes back into the house and cleans up her breakfast dishes before grabbing her wallet, keys and phone. *"Well, here goes nothing."* She dials the number that was written on the piece of paper from the day before.

Harry picks up after the second ring, "Hello?"

"Hey, Harry. It's Kai. You still wanna hang out today?"

"Kai! Of course! I can't wait to see your beautiful island."

"Okay, I'm leaving my house now and I'll stop by the store to get some drinks and snacks and then swing by the hotel to pick you up. Is there anything special you want to eat?"

"Whatever local cuisine you enjoy. I trust you."

"Okay, see you in about 15 minutes."

"Alright, I'll be waiting out front."

Kai ends the call and locks the front door. She jumps into her truck and begins her day of adventure.

Fifteen minutes later she pulls her truck to the entrance of the hotel and waves to Harry. He gets up from the bench and hops into the passenger seat. "Ready for your tour?", Kai asks.

"Been waiting since last night", Harry says smiling at her.

Kai feels her stomach do a little flip at that smile and she hides a little smile as she puts the truck in gear and drives off. "So, what do you want to see first?", she asks.

"Show me your town", Harry says.

"Okay, let's take a little walk around Front Street", Kai says. She heads south on the main highway and five minutes later they're in a small town. She finds a parking spot and she secures the cooler and beach bag in the front of the truck.

As they start their walk, Kai gives Harry a brief history of the town, telling him about the royal family that once made this little island their home and how it became populated when the missionaries arrived. She told him about the whaling spree that happened and showed him all the historic areas around the town.

"I'm sorry", she says. "I've been rambling on and on this whole time. There are shops and restaurants if you want to take a break from walking."

"No", Harry replies. "This has been great. I love hearing about the history of places and learning about cultures. I got some great pictures to go along with everything you told me. Thank you for showing me around your town." Harry smiled and Kai's knees almost melted.
