Prologue
A black tom was racing through the forest. Tears in his eyes. He ran straight through a bramble bush, covering himself in scratches but ignoring the pain. His mate was more important.
He came to the top of a waterfall and peered down it. He pelted towards a steep path leading to the bottom of it, sending rocks flying beneath his feet as he half slide half ran down the trail. Once he reached the bottom he jumped towards the small lake at the bottom of the waterfall and hopped into it.
He swam through the water as quick as a fish and swam straight for the waterfall. Once he arrived at the base of the waterfall he dived under it, letting a current drag him through an underwater tunnel. He burst out of the water and peered around.
He was in a small pool in the entrance to a huge cavern. He swam out of the pool and looked around. Just in front of him was the medicine den and to his left was the warriors den. He peered to his right and saw the apprentices cave. Then he turned his gaze back to the medicine den and raced into it.
“Quietstream!” He called as he stepped into the den. The smell of herbs instantly struck him and he began feeling relaxed by the smells. But he was also too scared to calm down.
A blue and silver she cat raised her head from where she was sorting herbs, “What is it Blackpelt?” She asked with a concerned hint to her voice.
The black tom stepped further into the medicine den and replied, “I- it’s Flakefur! She was feeling c- cooped up in the nursery so- so we decided to go hunting. She was chasing a ra- rabbit and then she collapsed! I- I think shes gone into labor!” He explained in a panicked and shook voice.
“Okay I’ll have to bring my herbs with me. You go back and give her a stick to chew on! I’ll be there as soon as I can.” The she cat replied as she raced over to her storage. She pulled out a pawful of herbs and turned her head back to Blackpelt, “GO!” She yelled.
Blackpelt nodded and turned towards the exit tunnel. The tunnel was to the left of the entrance pool. He carefully padded into it, careful not to step on the spikes on the floor the wrong way. The exit tunnel was a small tunnel that led out of the camp, it came out just behind the waterfall where there was a ledge that they could sit on. The tunnel was filled with spikes, on the floor, the walls and the roof. They pointed out words so it made it super difficult to walk into the cave that way which made it exclusive for leaving the camp.
Once he reached the ledge behind the waterfall, he wasted no time as he immediately jumped through the waterfall and splashed into the water on the other side of it. He swiftly paddled to the shore and made his way back to the top of the waterfall and retraced his steps to where his mate had collapsed. He burst through the ferns and saw a white she cat with black spots covering her back on her side.
He ran to the side and grabbed a twig quick before turning back to his mate, “Put this in your mouth and bite down on it” He said, his voice muffled by the twig in his mouth.
The black and white she cat looked up into his blue eyes with her blazing purple eyes, “Thank you..” She said around the pain as she grabbed the stick from his mouth. She bit down on it as hard as she could.
Blackpelt looked down his mates body and saw a pool of blood. His heart began racing faster and faster as more blood slowly came pouring out.
Quietstream burst through the ferns with a leaf full of herbs in her mouth. She ran up to the pregnant she cat and set the herbs down beside her. She separated a few specific leaves and started to chew them to a pulp. Once she was finished she spit them out by Flakefur's muzzle along with a couple leaves, “Eat these” She instructed.
