Dea had never been more relaxed. She was sitting in the side of the field of what seemed to her as a park. She went there after she ate her breakfast.

She watched the people around her; some were trimming the bushes, sweeping dry leaves, and some were simply passing by.

What she didn’t notice was that these people were restrained to move without limits by cuffs both in the hands and feet. What she saw were beautiful faces, and not the scarred ones who continuously cut themselves, the bald ones who pull their hair out of the sudden.

“Hey!” called someone from behind.

Dea looked, and found Dylan smiling at her. “Hey.”

The man sat beside her. “How is it going?”

“I’m good. The weather’s nice today, huh,” she replied. She didn’t know what brought him in the park near her house but didn’t bother to ask. She was already preoccupied of the preparations she’d do for her next show.

“How about Cassiel? Haven’t heard from him in a long while.”

That question made her freeze for a moment. She tilted her head to see the smiling principal dancer of the Eleganté. Dea had no idea what she looked like that moment but she was sure shock filled the most of her. How did this man know about Cassiel? She was sure he nodded in the direction of the bench in front of them.

Dea looked at the bench. There was Cassiel humming her favorite tune with his eyes closed. He knew, she thought.

“Dea?”

He almost made her jump.

“Um, he told me last night he’d get me new pointe shoes tomorrow,” she said, her eyes focused on what her partner’s reaction might be.

“Ah.” He faced her. There was something in his eyes. Was it sadness? Pity? Hopelessness? She didn’t know. “Can I go, too? I’ve always wondered how you ladies fit your pointe shoes to your feet like they were made solely for you,” he said, smiling, but the vibrant tone from when he greeted her was gone.

“Sure.” She smiled back.

Dylan stood, and held out a hand. “Shall we dance, miss?”

Dea giggled. The man never failed to make her happy. She stood, and grabbed his hand. They danced in tune with her guardian angel’s humming.

She felt that she was close to becoming the youngest prima ballerina of her generation. Soon.
