It was the middle of practice and Coach Jamie had called a 15 minute water break. Avalon was with Brooke. There was music playing. It was Brooke's phone going off. The ring tone was She Looks So Perfect by 5 Seconds Of Summer. It was her parents. They never called during practice. They only did that once. When they had found out her Aunt Hazel had passed away.
She came back with a tear in her eye. "What's wrong?" asked Avalon. Brooke started crying. She managed to say: "I'm moving" with a breath in between each word.
"What?!" screamed Avalon. Everyone stopped and stared. When the awkward 4 seconds ended, everyone continued with their activities.
Brooke replied with a slow nod. She said she was moving to Vermont. She said it was about a 14 hour drive. They were so upset they didn't even hear Coach Jamie blow the whistle, to signal that water break was over.
Coach Jamie came over to the girls, with the tears in their eyes. "C'mon girls, time for new stunts." The girls slowly dragged themselves to the cheer mat.
They had an hour left of practice. It was a Friday night. Brooke's parents were in Las Vegas, so they were having a sleep over.. And what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
