Alone

Chapter 17

I hold my stomach as I look down at Austin. My breathing comes in short breaths.

"Austin?" I say with my scratchy voice. "Austin?" I say again. Tears roll down my face. I start to hyperventilate. "Austin! Get up!" I can't breathe anymore. I turn back around Towards Cole.

Cade already has his gun and the barrel is pressed again Cole's forehead. A voice inside my head is yelling.

"Shoot him! Do it! Pull the trigger!"

But another voice comes from my mouth.

"Cole, you are gonna die soon, but not now." Cade grabs his arm and almost rips then off as he pulls him up and pushes him into the basement.

I hear yelling behind me.

"Firess!" Jason and Aria yell. I look at them in remorse.

"I'll be just fine." I say, trying to smile.

"Look at you! There's blood everywhere! Your blood, everywhere!" I look down to my hands. I almost pass out as I see the floor and my hands.

I try to sit up, but fall straight back to the ground.

"Agh!" I yell and scream in pain. Jason and Firess help pull me up.

"It hurts, so bad!" I start to cry. "Wait, put me back Down." They gently put me back on the ground, next to Austin.

"Austin," I start to say. "I'm sorry, I should've listened! It's all my fault. I should've just listened to Cade and Jason!" I hold his face in my hands. I put my ear to his chest. A smile approaches my face as I hear his heart beating. Everyone closes there eyes and smiles, just a little and let's out a sigh.

I open mine as I hear a noise coming from outside.

"Hello?" I ask the noise. I see a limping shadow.

"Oh no! Get Austin up now!" I yell at them. I watch the shadow creep closer and closer to the door. I use the wall to stand up.

"Ahhhhh! Aggh! Uhn!" I scream, but push myself forward. I grab my gun that I dropped as Jason grabs Austin's arms.

"He's to heavy!" He says as I see more shadows approaching from the corner. My breathing slows and My grip tightens on the gun as I keep my balance against the wall. The stalkers rush around the corner and I pull the trigger.

'Click'

Empty? Really?

A stalker limps towards me and grabs my arm, I use my foot to kick it away, I fall onto Austin. Jason and Aria went to go get their guns from the Kitchen table.

A stalker is about to fall onto me when I roll out of the way and pull Austin's limp body with me.

I use the wall to balance myself again as I use my boot and smash the stalker's head in.

"Ahh, Jason! Aria! Hurry up!" I hold my stomach again as they come rushing around the corner.

They kill off all the stalkers, just as I pass out.

I wake up with Austin next to me. I push on his shoulder to see if there is any sign of life. There isn't. His face and arms are dirty, and there is blood on his shirt. I throw my legs over the side of the bed and groan as I remember my stomach. It hurts so much.

I make my way to the bathroom to find a clean rag. I get it wet and put some soap on it. I look up at myself in the mirror.

"Ugly"

I shake my head and rush over to Austin without hurting myself. I look at him with envy as I see his strong arms.

I wipe his face and arms off. I reach for the hem of his shirt and lift it up to clean the wound to his shoulder. (where he got shot, again.) My jaw drops as I stare at him.

Tears fill my eyes and I start crying.

All I see is blood. And the teeth marks on Austin's stomach.
