The thing about my life is that it's normal. I don't have cancer. I'm not bullied in school but I'm also not Ms. popular. I have two amazing siblings and I can play soccer. Like I can really play soccer. I have two best friends who are the world to me. Jenna and Isa.
Like I said my life is normal and this story is a very simple one. It's a story of how I fell in love with Isa. It all started with me finally revealing my crush to my two best friends.
Let's start in the summer of 2019. It was July 31st.
"Jenna you have to" I said while we walked along the sidewalk of our small town Craveill.
"I don't have to do anything."
"How dare you. Harry Potter is the priority of life. Without Harry Potter what is life" I said waving my arms in the air. Jenna sighed and then rolled her eyes. She stop in the middle of the sidewalk and used her hands to wave herself. It was a hot summer.
"Ignis I refuse to spend over 24 hours watching all seven movies."
"Eight. There is eight movies and why are you saying that like it's torture."
Jenna looked at me as if I finally lost my mind.
"I love you my dear Ignis but I'm sorry I would rather do something else with my day."
"Like that stupid beach party."
"It's not stupid. It's Carrie party. She's gone through cancer. The least we can do is show up."
"So your saying that Carrie surviving cancer is more important than Harry Potter."
"Yes" Jenna said tucking a strand of her strawberry blonde hair behind her ear.
"Fine."
"You see that wasn't so hard" Jenna said with a smile. I looked at her with a glare and she giggled."You'll thank me."
"Don't push it. I already said I'm going."
That's when I heard our names being called. Jenna and I turned around to see Isa running towards us.
"Hey guys" he said running out of breath. He placed his arms above his head taking a breath in and out. Isa was always beautiful but it just took me a while to see it. He has brown curly hair that is wild and untamed. He's also mixed. Half Yemen and half black. So he has beautiful brown skin and his eyes. It's always the eyes that capture the girls. Those green eyes were striking. Perfectly striking.
"What's up" Jenna said.
"Ramen is what's up."
My heart almost stop. Ramen was my crush. His dark hair and brown eyes. He was a singer and had great pipes.
"Why is that important" Jenna asked placing her hands on her hips.
"Because I heard he's going to ask Ignis out."
"No way" Jenna said.
"Way" he said causing Jenna to laugh. But I couldn't laugh. I was panicking inside.
"Just came to warm you" Isa said "but it's not like it's important. Ignis will just say no like she always says."
"Yea" Jenna said but then they both looked at me.
"Are you okay" Jenna asked me.
"You are sure he said that" I asked Isa.
"You like him" Isa said with a bit of a surprise tone.
"No" I responded with quick fire.
"You like him" Jenna said jumping up and down.
"I'm surprised you like him" Isa said.
"I don't. I was just curious."
"Please my dear Ignis. We're your best friends you can tell us anything" Jenna said squeezing her hands together.
"Okay fine."
Jenna started jumping up and down like she won the lottery. Isa winked at me and I punched him lightly on his arm.
"So when did it start" he said sitting on the bench outside of the ice cream shop. I sat next to him and sighed.
Jenna stood waiting for my response.
"In music class he was teaching me how to play the guitar and I don't know that's how it started." Then I tried to put my curly brown hair into a ponytail but the scrunches broke.
Jenna slowly walked away to take a phone call. Isa stared at me and then took my right wrist. He slowly took off the rubber band off my hand and I turned around on the bench. He grabbed my brown long curls and twisted them making sure to get the curls on the back of my neck. I shivered at the touch. "Sorry" he whispered in my ear and then pulled my hair into a ponytail.
I turned around to face him and then shrugged off that feeling.
"So say yes" he said " I'll be glad to see you dating someone other than waiting for Harry Potter to pop into your life."
I rolled my eyes and then said "no. It's okay."
"When your crushing on someone you should tell them Ignis. You never know what you could be missing out."
"Says the virgin."
"You're a virgin too so shut up."
"No it's fine. I should be focusing on the SAT this year not Ramen."
"You'll get into your dream school."
"Oh shut up MIT."
Isa has been striving for MIT the moment all his five older brothers got into it. It's like a family legacy that he has to keep up.
"You can't always be afraid Ignis. You have to show a little bit of courage."
"I'm a coward Isa. How many times do I have to tell you."
He shook his head and then laughed. "Your anything but a coward Ignis."
"Help me. Help me be courageous."
"Okay. First step say yes to him. You literally have nothing to lose and he's a cool guy."
"And then"
"And then if you don't like him, dump him."
I laughed.
"What. It's true" Isa said and he ran his hand through his hair. For some reason I wanted to feel his curls. So I asked.
"Can I run my hand through your curls?"
Of course it was a question that shocked him and he then gave a small smile.
"Sure why not" he said.
So I ran my hand through his copper colored curls. They were so soft and gentle like running my hand through a soft pillow. You could just get lost in them.
"Hey can I try too" Jenna asked.
Isa shrugged his shoulders and I let go so Jenna could get a turn. I don't know how to explain that feeling in my heart. But I think that was the first time I ever felt jealous that another girl got to touch him.
