A New Flare

How it All Began

The morning sun has began to rise over the region known as Kalos shining brightly, sunlight had creeped through the window of a house in Lumiose City onto a 15-year old girl named Elisha with orange and red hair.

Despite it being morning, Elisha remained asleep, snoring away. She was buried under the mess of covers on her bed, not showing any sight of wanting to get up.

Elisha's mother Laney then yelled from downstairs, "Elisha! It's time to wake up! You'll be late!"

This causes Elisha to finally wake up. .She opened her eyes slowly and let out a loud yawn, groaning afterwards. She was groggy from waking up so early.

"five more minutes....." Elisha said with annoyance. She was quite lazy and wasn't the type to get up early in the morning.

"You'll be late to get your first Pokémon if you don't get up!" Laney yelled.

Hearing that Elisha remembered that she was supposed to get her starter Pokémon from Professor Sycamore. She finally got up from her bed letting out another yawn and stretched.

"Almost forgot about that. I wonder what starter I'll get." She said to herself. Elisha slipped out of her pajamas into her favorite outfit. Her outfit consisted of a long, orange skirt, an orange blouse with red flowers imprinted on it, a pair of earrings, golden-yellow leggings, and a pair of orange boots.

Elisha then went into the bathroom to check her reflection. Noticing her hair was mess she ran a brush through it and tied it up into a high pony tail. When she saw her nail polish was almost gone she painted them orange with little flames. If you couldn't tell from her outfit and hair, she liked orange and fire a lot.

After finishing getting dressed she grabbed her bad and went downstairs where her mother greeted her.

"Morning Elisha!" Laney said warmly. "Morning Mom." Elisha said back.

"You gonna eat breakfast?"

"I'll eat something later, I want to get to Professors Sycamore before anyone else."

"Okay dear , just remember to eat something and be careful."

"I will don't worry. Anyway bye now Mom." Elisha said then kissed her mother's cheek.

"Bye!"

Elisha quickly walked through the front door and through the busy streets of Lumiose City. She quickly went past all the buildings and finally reached Professor Sycamore's lab. She walked in and found Professor Sycamore looking at the computers in the lab. He noticed Elisha and walked over to her greeting her.

"Ahh welcome Elisha! I assume you've come to pick your first Pokémon?"

"Yeah, so what is my starter?" Elisha asked eagerly.

"You actually get a selection from 2 Pokémon. There was 3 but a girl had arrived earlier and had picked one of them."

Elisha was a little disappointed to find out she hadn't arrived first but was still exited. She then asked "So what are the two starters?"

"I'll show you." Sycamore pulled out 2 pokeballs from his pocket.

"please have a fire type, please have a fire type" Elisha repeated over and over in her mind. Elisha always had loved fire type Pokémon. She was hoping to get one as a starter.

Professor Sycamore clicked the button on one of the pokeballs which caused it to grow in size and for it to release the Pokémon inside.

Out of the pokeball was a small blue creature, with little ears and was rested on its balloon-like tail. Elisha recognized the Pokémon which was known as Azu. Water types weren't her thing so she had an uninterested expression on her face.

"Now here's the second one" Professor Sycamore clicked the button on the second pokeball and out came the Pokémon. When the Pokémon came out Elisha eyes widened at the sight of it.

The Pokémon was an orange color with a cream colored belly. It kinda looked like it a Salamander but if it was standing up right. And the end of its tail stood a flame and its eyes were blue. The Pokémon had a happy expression on its face.

Elisha was amazed by the Pokémon. Not only was it fire type, but it was also the color orange, her favorite color! She leaned in closer to the Pokémon.

"Hello" she said with a friendly tone.

The Pokémon tilted its head a bit. "char? Charmander!"

It let out a happy cry. Elisha was in love with it already. It was so cute.

"Awwwwwww" Elisha reached her hand out to pet the Pokémon known as Charmander. Charmander rubbed its head again her hand.

Professor Sycamore then asked "So is this the one you want?"

"YES!" Elisha yelled out with a lot of excitement. Charmander smiled and let out a happy cry. "Charrr!"

"Very well, I'll give you Charmander's pokeball and your own Pokedex and empty pokeballs"

Professor Sycamore handed Elisha five pokeballs and Charmander's pokeball along with a pokedex.

"Good luck on your journey Elisha! Also btw that Charmander is female and you can name it if you'd like along with other Pokémon you catch."

"Okay thanks Professor!" Elisha said enthusiastically. She picked up Charmander in her arms and walked out of the lab.

Elisha set Charmander on the ground. She looked at the female Pokémon and started thinking of a name for her. She thought about it and the finally thought of a name.

"Hey Charmander how does Llameante sound for a name?"

Charmander smiled and nodded her head in approval.

"Great! Nice to meet you Llameante!"

"Charr, Charmand!" Llameante was happy with her new name.

Suddenly, the two heard a shout.

"Elisha, Baby! I haven't seen you in forever! Let's battle!"
