The Fault In Our Hearts

Aros ; Prologue

"We're your song! Annyeonghaseyo,
Treble ibnida!"

. : Jiyeon's POV : .

   I gave a highfive to Eunha eonni as we ended the recording for Weekly Idol. "I was so nervous. I swear, my heart could've been fined for overspeeding!" She held her arms, and let out a shaky breath.

"What the ever loving cheesecake, eonni," I slapped her lightly on the shoulder. "Don't act as if this was the first time we got invited to a talk show." I crossed my arms over my chest, pouting.

     Eunha shook her head, laughing. "Geez, I was just trying to make a joke!" I laughed along with her. "Yah, Jiyeonie pabo. Come here!" My goodness, that nickname. I turned to look at our leader, Hayoung. "What is it?"

     She gave me a water bottle. "Here you go. You'll need it. We have a radio show to attend later at 4 PM today." I happily accepted the drink. I do need it at the moment. My throat felt drier than the Sahara desert.

     I love talking to Base, our fans, but there are so many of them. I admit that it's tiring, but I don't want anyone to feel envious because of the Base who got to talk to us. Personally, I want to get to know every member of Base! If it wasn't for our tight schedule...

     I headed back to the van immediately, wanting to just go back to the dorm for a much coveted moment of rest. Our schedule left us little to no time to rest in between. We really need a day off. Or two. Either would be more than enough.

     It's even a miracle for us that the radio show was set two hours after our appearance on Weekly Idol. During night time, Leerae eonni, Sohyun eonni, Sora eonni, and Hayoung eonni all spend their time studying.

     Whereas Eunha eonni, Gawon, and I still attend regular schools. Yes, we are still high school students. It's our summer vacation. Next year, we'll all officially move up a grade. Eunha eonni will start studying online, too.

     It's kind of sad that only Gawon and I are the only ones attending regular day classes. But at least I only have one more year before I finally get out of there. It's only a matter of time. I can't wait to get out of regular school.

     Besides, the only reason we attend that school is because they offered cyber lessons to students who couldn't come on a specific day so they won't be left behind the other students. It's convenient for us idols. So, there really is no problem at all.

     I sank onto the leather seat, covering my ears and drowning myself in the music. It's a miracle that our next destination is set two hours after this. I really need to sleep. My muscles were aching and begging to just rest even while we were recording.

     Come to think of it, school starts tomorrow. But, Inkigayo also happens to fall on that date. We have to practice. Geez... let us rest, please. I want to cry. But now isn't the time to cry. I closed my eyes in an attempt to get a headstart in rest.

     I almost jumped on my seat when the front car door opened. It was manager-nim. I pulled my headphones down and looked over to the front seat. "Oh, Jiyeon-ah. I've been looking for you." I tilted my head in confusion. "Why? What is it, manager-nim?"

     She handed me a brown envelope wordlessly. I took it in my hands, inspecting the material. "What is this for?" I asked, opening the envelope and taking out the paper that was inside. It was a certificate of legible transfer.

     "Well, Jiyeon-ah... your presence has caused too much commotion in your previous school. And with your growing popularity, it will only be much worse." Manager-nim took a deep breath. "We talked about it, and we finally decided."

     I gulped. "Decided what?" I could feel my hands shaking. "You'll be altering your appearance," Manager-nim stared at me in the eyes, unflinching. My heart pounded as if I had just finished a concert. "And transfer to a new school."

    Ah... I so badly need that bottle of water now.
