Prologue
Usually, Leopold Scrymogeour would agree with all of his father’s orders. He would go to war if his father had told him too, he would meet with a princess if he was told to do so, but one thing he would never agreed to, was marriage. For months his parents planned balls, just so he could meet a princess he would like, but he never met one. He had realized it was for marriage, and for alliances. He had explained that he didn’t want to marry yet, but they had not listened, and was now looking for women from the kingdom.
Obviously he was not ready for marriage. All his life, he had been stuck inside the castle, only going out for celebrations, for festivals and other things. He was told he was not allowed to go outside without supervision, even if he wanted to, so he had decided to not go out of his comfortable home that is the castle. He preferred to sit on his bed, in his jeans or in his pajamas and read or watch TV. He would prefer drinking tea and playing chess in the garden with his older sister, rather than socialize.
He never knew anyone from his kingdom, no one of his age. The only one he knew was his twin sister, who neglected him at times. He befriended the knights and the servants, but he had no real friends, since it was only the servant’s duty to keep him company.
Back to the topic, he never agreed to marriage. Yes, he was a gift from God. After years of miscarriages after his eldest sister’s birth, and he was the one they wanted to have, no, they needed to have. They needed one heir. That was him, he had been trained his whole life to be like his father. They married of Madeline, his eldest sister, and Sophia, the one who followed, for alliances. He was the one to handle the kingdom once his father had gone, or if he turned of age.
Honestly, he wasn’t ready to face it yet, he wasn’t ready to face his responsibilities and the world. He wished he would find a woman, one that would catch his eye, one that he would truly love for the rest of his life.
