Chapter 11 - Acquaintance Night

TAMED XI - ACQUAINTANCE NIGHT.

FOLLOWING our discussion about the masquerade-themed acquaintance party that will occur in a few days, I took a walk using a single crutch. I paused in my tracks upon witnessing a heated fight between Brent and Jazzver. Brent aimed a punch at Jazzver, but he skillfully evaded it and instead pinned Brent against a nearby tree.

"Jazzver! Brent!" Hindi sila nakikinig noong una pero nang ihagis ko na iyong saklay ko at tumama sa mga paa nila ay unang tumingin sa akin si Jazzver na sinasakal ngayon si Brent.

"Stop! Violence isn't the answer, can we find a way to resolve this peacefully?" pakiusap ko.

With a heavy sigh, Jazzver shrugged his shoulders and pushed Brent aside. Tahimik kong pinulot iyong saklay ko na hinawakan naman ni Brent, wala naman siyang pasa sa mukha kaya hindi ko na ipinahalatang nag-aalala ako para sa kanya.

"You're defending the wrong side," huling sambit ni Jazzver saka ito umalis.

"Let's talk, please." Brent begged me to stay.

"Wala tayong dapat pag-usapan." This is really wrong, if he will keep on insisting na gusto niya ako tapos may girlfriend siya. Hinablot niya iyong saklay mula sa 'kin saka niya ako binuhat para dalhin sa isang hallway papunta sa presidential building, walang gaanong ingay at taong iistorbo.

"Brent, ano'ng ginagawa mo?!

"Iiwan mo ako kapag ibinaba kita."

"Tarantado ka pala, eh!"

"Hush babe.." He huskily whispered pulling his hand off my mouth.

Ibinaba niya ako't niyakap na nakapagpahina sa aking mga tuhod. "I've missed you so much, Zamy."

"Mali itong ginagawa mo. . ." Itinulak ko siya.

"Jazzver is messing with your head, but don't fall for it. I'm not using you and I never will."

I couldn't believe it! Brent has been lying through his teeth from the very beginning, starting with the coffee and kiss incidents, and recently, seeing that picture of him with her at the party, I'm completely outraged. His lies couldn't be justified in any way, and I can see the truth written all over his face.

"You don't actually expect me to buy that, do you?"

"It's the truth when I say that I like you and want to be with you."

He kissed me.

He kissed me on my forehead. Dahilan para uminit ang buong muka ko. Dahilan para bumilis ang tibok ng puso ko.

Kung hindi pa nag-buzzer ay hindi siya titigil, nakahanda na ang dalawang palad ko para sampalin siya pero napalitan lamang ng pagkabahala ang dapat na galit sa loob ko nang makita ko si Professor Sandoval na nakatayo sa likuran namin.

"What's wrong?" Brent asked me one last time. Tumingin lang ako sa kanya saglit ay nawala na sa paningin ko ang propesora.

Nanggigigil sa galit kong dinuro si sa mukha Brent. "Don't even think about doing that again!"

Upon leaving, I set out to find the professor, only to be startled when she suddenly grabbed me and pulled me into an isolated area.

"Miss Rhio, let me go." I breathed out heavily.

She held onto my arm with a fierce grip as her eyes blazed with a mix of fury and disappointment, struggling to contain her emotions. "I believe I have now given you a clear justification for why I forced you to quit the play. Does that make you happy or satisfied now?"

"I'm not a mind reader, so I will never understand this until you speak up," nadadarang kong sagot nang nakatingin sa mga mata niya. "Kung hindi niyo pa rin sasabihin, baka naman pakisagot bakit galit na galit kayo ngayon? It's because of him, isn't it?"
