*Maria's POV*
My name is Maria Lee, I am five years old, I can count to 50, and I can read big girl books. My mama and papa were sent to heaven a year ago.
I miss them a lot, but not my papa that much. He was mean and would hurt me all the time. My mama was beautiful and was nice.
One night my papa and mama got in a fight when my uncle (papa's brother) was visiting. He got mad at their fight and took a big knife. He shouted at my papa and then my mama, saying that if they didn't stop he would kill them and me.
My mama started crying while my papa got even more mad. And then uncle snapped, he hurt them and then walked to me saying, don't be afraid, you will soon join them.
I ran away from him and ran to my neighbor, who had the policemen at my house. They arrested uncle and took me away to this place.
I cant remember uncle's name at all. Maybe Joe or John? Oh well. Also I don't talk alot just one word sentences.
In this place no one likes me only Anna, she is three years older then me so.....8! Yay 5 plus 3 is 8! The loudspeaker went off saying it was time for lunch.
I slowly walk out of my room. As i make it to the hallway I'm scooped up into someones arms. "Anna!!!" I squeal laughing.
She smiles and carries me downstairs to the others, who call us the freak show. Jasmine laughs and walks over to us.
"Morning freaks. Adoption day is today, but who would adopt any of you?!" She scoffs. Anna covers my ears so she can cuss Jasmine out.
"And who would want a bitch like you?!" I can hear muffled. She lets go of my ears when Jasmine walks away.
We walk over to our table and she sets me down. "No one wants me..." I whisper. Anna gets mad at what i said.
"Don't say that, today is the day i know it." She kisses my forehead and returns to eating. I can only hope.
