Prologue

The beginning of werewolves

My mom and my dad told us stories of fantasy's, that kind of stuff. I never thought the stories I thought was true and in my dreams, would come true. We lived a normal life, and that's how me and my brothers parents wanted it.

But it all changed when an unexpected event changed everything. My brother changed. Literally. It was a normal day, when I heard hisses coming from my brothers room. I was worried of there was a beast attacking my brother, so I checked it out.

I went in and saw my brother. Or what looked like my brother. He was breathing heavily and had pale skin, what scared me the most was his red eyes. Nobody in the village knows what he is. Even our elders.

Ever since, my parents ignored me and so did my brother. I know that he still loves me, but he doesn't show it. He always had our parents love after Asus, my brother, turned.

Today was a normal day as always, do the chores have a little free time and then sleep.

For some unknown reason, today I felt weird. I just waved it off, I didn't want to get into conclusions. After getting fire wood from the woods, I returned to the house to hear yelling.

By the sounds of it, my brother, my mom and my dad was all arguing. I opened the door and stared wide eyed at them. After a few minutes into the conversation, they stopped talking and turned to look at me.

“What are you looking at?” My brother snarled.

I pointed upstairs. “I was just about to go upstairs.”

“Then go!” He shouted.

“What was you guys talking about?” I asked.

“None of your business.” He replied.

“It should,” I yelled. I was mad. “I am part of this family too!”

“You only do the work,” He snapped, that hurt. “That's all you do. But you will never get my parents love.”

I gasped. I felt tears rolling down my cheeks. He was right. I was worthless here. If I didn't get my parents love, then I don't belong here. Nowhere is family. Maybe the forest animals, but that was all. Anger shot threw me so fast I thought I was going to blow.

“You are right!” I shouted. They all looked taken aback. “Ever since you got those stupid powers, you all went against me! I don't care if you got powers. You are still the same person to me! Why can't you see it?”

I fell to my knees and cried. I felt a hand on my shoulder, but I shoved it off. Suddenly someone screamed. I then realized it was me. I felt my bones shifting into unrecognizable shapes and heard my bones cracking.

What the hell is happening to me? I thought. It suddenly stopped and I looked up to see I was on four legs, not two. I heard my parents gasp. I looked at my body to see I was a wolf.

“Honey, shift back to human and give me a hug.” My mom said.

I growled at her. She jumped back, startled. It felt weird being a wolf, but for some reason I felt like this was completely normal. ‘That's because we are wolf, duh, it's going to feel natural’ a voice said in my head.

‘Who is there?’ I asked. ‘Your wolf, Selene.’ The voice; Selene responded. I was brought back into reality when my brother growled.

“Don't scare my mother.” He snarled.

“She's our mother. And I don't care. A little bit of her own medicine wouldn't hurt.” I snarled back.

“You should care, she's giving you back the love you lost.” He said.

“I don't want forced love. She used to love us without our powers, so what happened?” I asked.

I turned and ran into the forest, loving the feeling of air rushing through my fur. I wondered what I looked like. Maybe I could look at myself at the lake. In no time, I was at the lake not even out of breath.

I looked at my reflection, and what I saw made me gasp. My fur was completely white with gold lines in them. A normal wolf did not have this kind fur, Neither did a normal wolf this big. I was about the size of a grown horse. Not a pony, a horse.

How was this possible? I thought. It is, a voice responded. And it wasn't my wolf. Umm... Hello? The voice chuckled, I am the moon goddess. I will visit you in a moment.

There was a bright light and a woman appeared out of nowhere. She was wearing a white gown with a crown studded with jewels. Power was coming off her in waves. She was really pretty.

“Now that we meet, I am going to explain this for you. You are the first werewolf to roam these lands.” The moon goddess said.

“Umm, excuse me, but what is a werewolf?” I asked.

“A werewolf is what you are. Half human, half wolf. You are stronger than a human in your human form.” The moon goddess replied. “But for now, I am going to put you in a deep sleep. I will choose another person, and people will think he is the first werewolf. You have powers that werewolves don't have. You will find out yourself when you wake.”

“What?” I said.

“Find out for yourself.” She said.

Everything was getting dark and it was hard for me to keep my eyes open.

“Prepare yourself, Tris Heart. Prepare yourself.” That was all I heard, before I passed out.
