"Zorm?" My voice whispered in the crisp coldness of the darkness before me.

It was swallowed up immediately by the denseness of the air. I took a deep breath feeling the icy air fill my lungs sharply. It was like I had just jumped into the freezing water that ran in front of me in the middle of winter. The coldness that swallowed me whole was not sweet like it is during a lovely Christmas morning. No, it was like you have been just abandoned by your loved ones. It was cruel and cold. Nothing but, that. Just by the thought, shivers ran down my spine and my snow-white wings quivered by the chilly air.

I have been on the run with Zorm from a long-lost crazed friend that had cracked from the loss of our flock. His name was Daemon and he did not know who he was, where he was, or even what he was anymore. It had happened many times before but, this time it was nothing like anything we experience I realized I was so lost in my thoughts when I felt another bone-chilling breeze hit my body having me wrap my arms around myself. I forgot that I was surrounded by darkness. It felt like there were evil glances from the shadows and they were laughing at me. I could have sworn I heard them say 'Risa, you will never be normal. You're useless. Your friend is gone, and it is your fault.' Frustration rose inside me and I threw a large stone into the darkness as if to say ' Hell with you!'. I felt frustrated and tears brimmed my eyes while the moonlight shined on them. It broke into the leafy ceiling of the forest that surrounded me. I felt as though I was a blind bat that was lost in the daylight. Long auburn lox blew into my face as I felt shivers from the wind run down my spine once more. My legs stumbled around navigating me among the forest floor. Leaves crackled and crinkled beneath my feet as my legs lead me to no specific destination.

"Zorm?" I whispered having my voice been swallowed up by the dense air once again.

'Zorm, where are you?' Was the only thing that ran through my mind. Suddenly I heard shuffling in the leaves behind me. I twirled my body around frightened like a deer.. There was nothing in front of me except the blackness of the night, the riverside, and the occasional glistening of the moonlight through the trees. I heard the sound again and it was behind me. Was I surrounded? Was it Daemon who had been chasing us into the depths of this forest? Had Daemon hurt him? or worse was Zorm dead? My heart pounded against my chest. Abruptly there was an icy hand against my mouth that had silenced my upcoming scream. I knew that the hand was masculine and that told me it was either Daemon or Zorm. The thought of it being Daemon ran through my mind so fast that I wriggled around trying to force him off me. Another hand gripped my arm tightly as if he were making sure there will be marks on it afterward.

'Shit' I hissed to myself.

' Panicking, I wriggle my way around once more but, he was too strong for my humble strength. I knew I was defeated when it came to that.

'Come on Risa, think of something quick or you just might be dinner!'

I soon bit Daemon's hand hard and my sharp teeth sunk into his skin breaking it. Blood gushed in between my teeth as I bit him but, he did not let go. The Only sign the bite had made Daemon hurt was a loud grunt right in my ear. I had to think fast. How was I supposed to get out of this one? I felt helpless like an animal that had just been caged and was brought to someplace unknown. I soon thought of an idea and I knew it would hurt him more than it would ever hurt me. I swung my right leg back and forth and then once more back hard. I closed my eyes praying that I would hit him in the right place.

"Ow, what the hell are you doing, Risa?!" A familiar voice yelled.

My silver eyes widened. It was Zorm. He held me close to his body and slowly sunk down on the dirt. He breathed weakly into my ear and his grasp loosened into nothing. I backed away and looked at him. It was clear where I hit him.
