Chapter 1

"This is some crap-" James grunted, knowing he'll have to be home soon. James said he could go out in the abandoned woods alone. Here he was, in the woods, alone. Pushing his bushy brown hair out of his eyes, James heard his phone buzz in the back pocket of his jeans. It was a notification from his mother saying to come home. "Can't my parents just trust me for once!" James threw his phone on the ground. It was broken now, completely destroyed. "Well that's just great, a broken phone and nothing but darkness and woods around me." James sighed but his emotions were wiped away by fear when he heard some rustling noises. James cursed under his breath and started running. Breath and you'll be fine Maxwell. James thought to himself. But no, James couldn't catch up with all the wild thoughts going in and out of his head. Tripped and fell, layed unconcious, James was left there in the rain, mud, and fall leaves. A bear stumbled across James, probally thinking he was better left for dead and kept on trudging. It was not until after the rain stopped that James woke up. His muscels were aching and the whole head-migraine was working with his body. James felt like giving up, but he can't. Get up Maxwell god d- James started to think when he heard a female voice. "Are you alright?" The girl's voice said she was sweet but her actions against James say otherwise. James could hardly with the girls foot-? against his chest. "Who are you first of all and get off of me." He said. "I would say the same thing but I asked first." The girl had a sharp edge to her voice which surprisingly made James calm. "Yeah i'm okay now answer my question girly." James fired back. The girl took her foot off of James' chest so he could finally breath again. "I'm Alissa Rayes and what do you want with me." What does she have against "random" forest-goers? The thought crept through James' head. "Really first off-" James started, trying to break the akward silence between the two. "Save it, we need to get you somewhere and cleaned up." Alissa says.

Alissa took James to an abandoned cottage in which she called "home" James had so many questions to ask. Alissa shoved some girly clothes in James' face. "Go, take a bath and wear this." James looked at the clothes in disgust. "You expect me to wear this piece of crap?" James threw the clothes back at Alissa. "Fine, just take whatever's on the desk over there and hurry up." She scowled. James hurridly took a dark honey mustard sweather and black jeans. While James was getting a shower, Alissa turned on the tv to the local news. "Teen reported dead after zero clues of where they could be." The tv showed a picture that looked excately like James. So I guess people actually cared about this kid. Alissa thought. Tears were brought to Alissa's eyes quickly as she remembered being abandoned just recently. After James got done taking a bath he tried to make "his" bed look like home. I can't even remember what my bed looks like. Has it been this long? James thought. "So uh, Ally-? Um Alissa, I kinda felt sorry for our meeting. Lets be taken aback a few steps. Name's James-" James Started and finished with Alissa on "Maxwell." James gave Alissa a shocking look that definately told Alissa how'd you know? "You were just on the news. Claimed dead." Alissa said. "No, you're kidding right?" James sat down next to Alissa on the bed. Alissa re-winded the tv and proved to James that he was claimed dead. "James Maxwell, six-teen years old,pronounced dead at the scene." James was shocked. Just a couple of hours after I left the house? "I can't believe it. Well there's no way going back now." James sighed. "We should head to bed, we have alot do to tomorrow." Alissa said. James nodded in agreement and turned off the light. Alissa was under the blankets while James' back faced Alissa. "Night" they said together.
