"Skylar, are you ready?"
"No, give me... An hour."
"Okay but hurry up, we have to leave in an hour exactly."
Skylar got up and put on her favorite black dress which now she was wearing for a purpose. She did her make-up dark and heavy and curled her hair. She wanted to look nice at her Dad's funeral.
Her Dad had sailed over seas, and sacrificed his life for his country. Now that he was gone, Skylar didn't know what to do. It's like her spirit left her body, not even her best friend Nathan could cheer her up.
She was happy Nathan was coming to the funeral though.Skylar hated her family. They were embarrassing, rude, and selfish. At Skylar's last birthday, her Aunt threw Cake at her face and yelled at her for getting cake on her pumps. God, I even hate her family.
The funeral was terrible, I mean, aren't they all? Skylar cried the whole time, she cried even harder at the slide show, (most of the pictures were family pictures, so I can see why.) she was ready to bolt out of the church and throw herself to the ground and just, poor her heart out. She did leave early though.
Her and Nathan went out to Nathan's Uncle's Resturant to grab a bite to eat. They go there a lot, just to talk.
"You know, I'm really gonna miss your dad, Skylar. He really was a great man."
"Thanks Mr. Corse, he really was a great man."
"Thanks for the drinks Uncle Mack, but Skylar and I have a movie to see.
"Anytime, thanks for coming down."
"Your Welcome Mr. Corse
Skylar and Nathan walked to the mall, and got some frozen yougurt.
"I can't believe it Nathan, one minute he's there and the next he's gone."
Skylar started bawling into Nathan's arms.
"Skylar, it's gonna be ok, you umm still have your Mom, and your... Dog?"
Nathan obviously didn't know how to talk to a girl.
"Haha, Thanks Nathan."
Skylar said while wiping the tears from her eyes.
"Well we better go catch that movie."
"Ya, what movie are we going to see anyways?"
