***Lacey's POV***
In that one week where Cameron, Margot and I all hung out, we grew really close. We hung out everyday. They snapchat me their Starbucks and I Snapchat them my Starbucks. Every week. I miss them so so so much. But it has been 6 months, and now it's winter. I finally graduated from online classes, and I am going to attend college next year. That gives me a one year gap to obtain a skiing scholarship. That's my plan. I'm currently on the ski lift alone, waiting to get to the top.
I always ski alone. I just do. If I ever were to get hurt, people who are passing by would see me and it would be fine. My dad doesn't worry about it, so why should I?
My thoughts were interrupted when I finally reached the top of the double black diamond. My first of the season, and I couldn't wait. I skied down as fast as possible, until I realize there were moguls. It was too late now to slow down. I guess another skier had the same idea, because he came down right behind me.
I tried to turn off of the moguls, well yeah, bad choice. He was going faster than me, and I didn't see him until he whipped around the corned and hit me. My ski got caught in the snow since I had dug my ski in so hard trying to turn. I toppled over and landed flat on my stomach. He skied past me and then stopped.
"Hey, are you alright?" A guy asked, taking off his helmet after stopping next to me.
"Fine" I said.
"Hey, we all fall" He smiled, holding a hand out for me to get up. I took his hand and he pulled me up. My ankle hurt like all hell, but I am a skier, and I can deal with it.
"Thanks. But I never fall" I said.
"Well looks like the tables have turned Miss Perfect" The boy who hit me laughed.
"Taylor" The boy who had helped me scolded. I guess the boy who had hit me was named Taylor. Taylor just couldn't stop laughing. I didn't realize I did something funny.
"Sorry about that. I'm Aaron" He held out his hand, this time or me to shake it. I gladly did. At least he was nice.
"I'm Lacey. And I'll race you down" I started going down.
"Hey! You got a head start!" He called down the hill.
"I didn't see a rule book" I yelled, feeling the wind whip against my face as I shredded down the mountain. I passed that Taylor kid thank god.
"Look, she can ski" He called out to me. I didn't answer, just sped to the bottom. My right ankle was still killing me, but not enough to stop me.
I thought I was way ahead of them, but to my disappointing surprise, Aaron was already at the bottom, and Taylor came right behind me.
"Looks like you won" I took off my helmet and told him. You can be a sore loser in skiing, but there really isn't a point.
"I guess I did. But take a look at you ski. You were brought down" Aaron took off his helmet and pointed to my right ski.
It had nearly broke in half, and I dropped my mouth open.
"Taylor, you've gotta buy her new skis" Aaron said.
"Aaron" Taylor gritted his teeth.
"You broke her skis, Taylor. Come on. We are working on social skills, remember? If you break something, you have to replace it" Aaron said. It was like he was talking to a five year old.
"Fine" Taylor propped his helmet on his arm and looked at me.
"Let's go down to the ski shop and fit your skis to your boots" Taylor sighed.
I would've payed for them myself if this Taylor kid wasn't such a jerk.
We walked into the ski and he bought me the most expensive skis in the entire store. Wow. He even threw in some new ski boots and poles.
"I couldn't thank you enough Taylor" I told him.
"No big deal" He said.
"You really didn't have to do that. It was very nice of you to-" I started but he cut me off.
"It's no big deal, okay?" He said.
"Oh, okay" I said just before he walked away and out of the shop.
"I'm sorry about him" Aaron said.
"It's okay" I told him.
"Don't thank him for the stuff. The kid is filthy rich. That's like me giving you $5, it doesn't mean anything" Aaron told me.
"Well okay"
"WATCH WHERE YOU'RE GOING" I heard Taylor yell from outside the shop. That's how loud he was.
"Hey, well I have to go and deal with...that" Aaron said.
"Okay, see you around" I told him.
The day was practically over by the time I mastered how to use these new skis and poles. They are different weights and shapes than my old ones, so it took a big of adjusting. I decided to rent out a small cabin/ski lodge so I can ski tomorow. My dad won't mind. I'll just have to leave around 2 to I ride my horses. They haven't been ridden since the move. I just hope the Taylor kid isn't here tomorrow.
