Chapter 9
Year 2012
They were attacked in the morning. It had actually been a peaceful morning; the weather was good and slightly breezy, the sun shining its happy, golden rays into the windows of the hotel rooms. The twins had their room, Danny had her own room, Pavo had his own room, and Jie Ke had his room with Xiao Mi. They had all been asleep in their beds then, when the glass of each of their windows shattered loudly, wildly sprinkling the carpeted floor.
The twins shot up from where they lay, their expressions bewildered and drowsy. “Now that’s what I call an explosive orgasm,” Chastity remarked sleepily, pulling away the long strands of violet hair away from her small face.
“This is not peaceful!” Chaos cried passionately, still apparently half-asleep as well. “Stop the bombs!”
A few thugs hopped in through the windows, but the twins, starting to see through the sleepy haze, realized that these thugs did not have unnaturally colored hair or eyes. They were from 2012.
Pavo was annoyed. He had been having a nice dream of hot guys, only to be awoken by the window breaking. He sat up sleepily, still holding the sunhat he slept with every night, and glared at the thug standing silently before him. “If this is room service,” he snapped grumpily, “The door is there, not the window. And your outfit is awful, by the way. A singlet and jeans, instead of a concierge’s uniform? I might mistake you for a thug if you’re not careful. The gun you’re pointing at me deepens the impression too. Anyway, I don’t want anything, so good night.” He fell back asleep, the bright rays of sunlight glowing on him through the jagged gap of the window.
The thug shook his head. It was just too easy. He raised his gun, and prepared to pull the trigger – when a rose popped up in his face, and he yelped in shock and slight pain as its thorns dug into his eyelids, effectively cutting off his vision.
“Just kidding,” Pavo commented crisply. He had stood up from his bed, and was calmly striding towards the enemy, his hands in his pockets. The thug pulled the trigger wildly, his other hand savagely ripping off the rose from his face. Bullets splattered the air, and Pavo swiftly ran towards the window and leapt out effortlessly, narrowly avoiding a bullet. He made sure he grabbed his luggage and sunhat before he leapt out. The luggage, made of the finest leather, cost the same amount as a few houses. His parents would kill him if he lost the bag, he knew. If he ever managed to escape unscathed from being a traitor, that was.
Jie Ke and Xiao Mi had immediately pounced up from their bed instinctively, their bed sheets crumpled and forgotten. “London is full of surprises, yes?” Jie Ke remarked placidly, as Xiao Mi flipped a thug over expertly and straddled him, snatching away his gun.
“This is why I hate travelling.” Xiao Mi’s expressionless face looked up at him, still holding down the writhing man below her.
“We should go, Xiao Mi,” Jie Ke said calmly. “There are probably more of them on the way here. They’ve tracked us down, and that is not good.” This meant that the Mascara hosts, including their higher-ups, had discovered their most-wanted enemies’ location, and Jie Ke knew that the others probably realized that as well. He grabbed hold of his huge black bag, and the both of them gracefully shot out of their window, leaving the thug lying behind without his gun.
“Here.” Jie Ke spoke politely, as Xiao Mi silently deposited the thug’s gun into Danny’s hands. The whole group had gathered at the back of the hotel, ready for escape. Danny’s eyes were wide and her jaw sagged. “What’s wrong?” Jie Ke inquired, seeing identical expressions from the others.
“Uh... how about you take a look at Xiao Mi’s outfit?” Danny demanded. The silent Chinese girl in question was decked in a red bikini that left little to the imagination.
