*THIS IS A TRANSITION*
Link looked around underwater, disoriented and confused. All the map had told him was that there were a lot of twisting tunnels, but underwater, none of it made any sense. He'd discovered multiple seemingly hidden passageways, but somehow he always found himself at a dead end or right back where he started.
He suddenly heard a strange sound behind him, and he was a moment too late in recognizing it. A stinging sensation overtook his body, paralyzing him and sending pain rocketing throughout his body.
Stupid electric fish thing.
He recovered himself, then continued to follow the same paths that he'd been going through for the past few hours.
In retrospect, Midna's offer to help him get the key would have saved a lot of time. But now it was too late; he wasn't about to give up his pride just to get a stupid key.
After another few minutes of aimlessly swimming about, he suddenly found himself in front of a wall that he didn't recognize. A chunk of the rock had cracks and looked much weaker than the rest of the wall, so he set down one of the water bombs he'd acquired and threw a small pebble at it from a distance to set it off.
The wall gave way and stones went flying as the bomb burst. Any fire that would have resulted was put out by the water before it was visible, but the damage was done, and Link could slip through the hole and to the other side of the wall.
When he first looked around, he didn't think there was anything here, and he'd just wasted his time. Fortunately, he decided to look up at the last minute, and he saw that surface was above. Eager to be out of the water after so long, he swam at top speed and finally broke the surface, instinctively gasping for sweet air even though he'd never really run out.
He climbed out of the water onto the floor next to him and was relieved to find a door. He didn't hesitate for a second before entering.
Oh, man. The key had better fucking be in this room.
Another salamander-thing in a bubble of water was waiting for him, but he easily used the clawshot to yank it out and the water collapsed into a puddle on the ground. He killed the creature with a few hits of his sword and looked around the room.
There was a small, gear-shaped thing on the ground, surrounded by a bit of netting. It looked so out of place, he was sure it must do something. He jumped on it, tried cutting the netting with his sword (which surprisingly didn't work because it was so rubbery), and even attempted to turn the gear. Finally he gave up, and decided to look at the ceiling.
Because for some reason, there seemed to be a lot of things on the ceiling in this temple.
As it turned out, there was a clawshot target right above him, and he shot at it, letting himself dangle. He spent so long trying to ignore the fear pounding through him that for a moment, he didn't notice that the gear had all but disappeared, leaving nothing but a long drop beneath him. When he did notice, he screamed and accidentally let go of the trigger, releasing the target and falling, falling, fa -
Ouch.
The ground was closer than he thought.
Did he miss the hole or something?
